The first appearance by a sitting president on "The Tonight Show" may well end up being the last.
President Obama, in his taping with Jay Leno Thursday afternoon, attempted to yuk it up with the funnyman, and ended up insulting the disabled.
Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he's gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.
He bowled a 129, the president said.
"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.
It's "like the Special Olympics or something," the president said.
When asked about the remark, the White House said the president did not intend to offend.
"The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics," White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said. "He thinks the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world."
Facing tough questions about the performance of his Treasury Secretary, $165 million in bonuses for AIG officials and anticipating a fight over his $3.55 trillion budget, the president has not had a particularly good week, and it's unlikely this will help matters.

Actually, Obama would prefer the abortion of this population, not to mention the euthanasia of these folks under rationed healthcare.
The American Association of People with Disabilities claims that there are 37.5 million disabled people who are eligible to vote, using a very broad definition that includes learning disabilities.
Shows you how effective their work is when even we at FR barely notice such things...
Class? When? I must have missed it. He doesn’t even get simple etiquette. Wearing a suit and holding a degree (and that’s not a foregone conclusion since he won’t show his college papers) doesn’t mean you have class.
I know “trailor park” residents and “special ed” students with more class, compassion and ethics then this turd will ever dream about having. He’s a class act alright...in his own mind. Even the Obamabot fools I work with are being to see thru his smokescreen.
Obama supporter steals vote from disabled man

Georgia state officials have begun an investigation into Primus Industries and the alleged voter fraud committed by one or more of its employees. Jack Justice attends the adult day care provided by Primus for mentally-challenged individuals, and one or more Primus aides took them to an early voting event without permission from their families. Once in the booth, the aide cast the ballot for Barack Obama over Justices protestations...
Obama wants to charge disabled veterans for treatment at VA facilities...
It just goes to show you what these Marxists think about the disabled.
Agreed. This is appalling. Example, my family knows several profoundly disabled people and if one of my KIDS said something like "heh heh, I bowled like ______ (insert name here)," they'd likely get a smack in the mouth.
And it has nothing to do with political affiliation - if Pres. Bush had said something similar, I'd be just as appalled. (That would actually be worse, because I'd be embarrassed that he represented my political party.)
It has to do with respect for the less fortunate and their valiant efforts to succeed in situations where most of us perfectly healthy people take our circumstances for granted and might just crumple into a heap if we had to do the same for a single day.
OK, off my soapbox. :) But no class is right. And Hildy is right - every time this man speaks without his teleprompter, he sticks his foot in his mouth.
This latest TOTUS thing is exactly why I adore Rush. I crack up every time I hear him say something like “and President Obama’s teleprompter said...”
B.O. Salutes True Commander in Chief -- President Bamster-Prompter
Can I hope for the "or something"? Note the statement was not an apology.
As Rush mentioned yesterday - the Obama teleprompter has its own blog:

Dear Sarah, please don’t hold back on this one. I would love to hear your thought on this little O-quip.
I think that he really does have a problem with people with disabilities, physical or mental.
His attitude about the veterans and his public Special Olympic comment suggests that might truly have an issue with people who are disabled. I think that there is a name for that sort of aversion or perhaps it is even a phobia for him. His overpreening and attention to his physical appearance would further emphasize this sort of aversion.
He has a bully attitude and my guess is that he has honed it well over the years by being cruel to those whom he found inferior.
Considering the lack of bowling skill he demonstrated during the campaign, the only way he could be bowling a 129 is if he’s spent HOURS in the WH bowling alley practicing.
That explains why he hasn’t been on top of any actual presidential issues for the past few weeks. HE’S BEEN BOWLING INSTEAD!
Because he really does have the mind of a four year old...
