That’s very sad. I worked as a resident there in the late 90’s and learned so many things from the faculty and patients and nurses there. Everyone was so dedicated.

Instead of wasting money on tatoo removals and other such nonsense why doesn’t Zero help out the local Shriner’s Hospitals? What are they afraid they might actually do some good?
I’m sure the last thing the Shriner’s hospitals want is government intervention. They’ve always been funded by the donations of average citizens and investments from them.

Formally, belief in one God, of upstanding character, of sound in body and mind, and has a good reputation.
Informally, believe in helping others, believe there is more to life than pleasure and money, should be willing to respect the opinions of others, and he should want to grow and develop as a human being.
I think it would be a stretch to say the least.

It would be hard to not let "this" happen here, even if we had one, since the story doesn't say why it closed, other than "since Ike". Since we don't get hurricanes....

Did I miss something? What does Ike have to do with them not being able to take patients?
Ike damaged the already financially hurting hospital. A lot of doctors who lived in the area moved out after Ike, and they where unable to get the donations necessary to rebuild and keep the doors open.
A perfect storm (no pun intended) of problems.
I can’t see a single character in there that I would apply to the zero.
