What was supposed to be legal lynching of AIG's Edward Liddy turns into huge defeat for Congress

We have met the enemy and it's the people who represent us. The blowhards and buffoons in Congress proved again Wednesday they are worse than useless.

Ronald Reagan's famous line that "government is the problem" kept going through my head as the AIG hearing demonstrated the dangers of Washington's role in the economy. The very people, Republicans and Democrats alike, who can't balance America's budget now claim the expertise to run banks, insurance companies and automakers.

If we let them, we're dumber than they are.

What was supposed to be a legal lynching of AIG boss Edward Liddy over the firm's bonus plan turned into a humiliating defeat for the lynch mob. Liddy came off as a smart straight shooter, a man who gave up retirement for $1 a year to rescue AIG so it wouldn't bring down the financial system.

He also proved himself a cut above those who aimed to make cheap headlines at his expense. I'd pay to see him question Congress on its role in the economic mess.

Congress and the president have no right to invalidate legal contracts. Invalidating legal contracts retroactively is illegal.
The AIG executives who received money for performance should keep the money.
The CEO should have refused to go to the inquisition before congress and should have instead sent them a picture of a raised middle finger.

What I fear the most is a terror attack. This administration would make a disaster worse.

Right now if terrorists from some Muslim sleeper cell appeared with fully automatic weapons, shot down hundreds of American citizens and then were shot by citizens using Marlin lever-action deer rifles Obama would call for a ban on all Marlin rifles.

That is EXACTLY what we need to hear. We need to hear who is in charge of the cleanup, what is being done, and we need to get those who are idiots OUT OF THE WAY!

I don't care about the bonuses, I want to know who got them, what they did to get them, and if they did their job then fine, take the bonuses and have a great life. If they just handed them out to the creeps who caused the problems so they can all celebrate how dumb the people are, then I want some heads on a platter.

I just want to know what is going on. God, how I wish we had a free press!

“I can’t believe the American people are so stupid as to complain about $165 million but say nothing about the $11 trillion being taken them.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

“Penny wise and pound foolish.” There is a reason trite old expressions exist, most of them are based on truth.
