(CNN) -- Former President George W. Bush is writing a book focusing on defining decisions he's made in his personal and political life, a publishing house announced Thursday.
The book, tentatively titled "Decision Points," is to be published in fall 2010, according to the Crown Publishing Group. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The book will focus on about 12 important decisions made by the former president. Topics will include his decision to run for president, his choice of his closest advisers, the September 11 terrorist attacks, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, his response to Hurricane Katrina, the forming of his stem cell research policy, his decision to quit drinking, how he found faith and his relationships with his father, mother, siblings and wife.
"I am spending time on the book every day," Bush was quoted saying in a news release. "My goal is to bring the reader inside the Oval Office for the most consequential moments of my personal and political life.
"I look forward to painting a vivid picture of the information I had, the principles I followed, and the decisions I made," Bush said.

Why did they only start look at the last four years?
Because Bush's enforcement the first four years of his administration was basically zero, much less than even Clinton's poor job.
I'll stand by my remark, through eight years as President of the United States, Bush worked harder and longer for the Mexican government and their illegals than any other single domestic issue.
I wonder if the nomination of Harriett Miers will be among the twelve.

Bush supporters here can get emotional and start insulting people. My opinion, all it is: he was a terrible president and left us in this horrible situation. I voted for him twice and applaud his SC appointments. I once drove 240 miles to vote in the county I was registered in because I so preferred him to McCain. As someone else here said, Bush was the greatest political disappointment in my lifetime.
I’ve jousted with the Bush people for years here. But they often get snotty real fast.

That’s the one thing I’m most interested in reading; I wonder if its absence from this list is just an oversight.
From that point onwards, we have had two species of conservative; the compassionate and the uncompassionate.
By using this sort of language he damaged the conservative cause severely. It was to be symptomatic of his presidency. In trying to be "compassionate" he attempted to be all things to all men and he ended up being not much to anybody. The liberals still hated him as much as they always did and he earned the anger of conservatives also, as evidence from this thread and this site (cap tip to the Bush lovers; yes he was better than Gore or Kerry would have been).
His presidency was shaped in great part by 9/11 and his response to that crisis was admirable, even if the Iraq war was a mistake. However, I'm happy to cut him some slack on that score as he received very bad intelligence which greatly influenced his decision. He gave us two excellent Supreme Court judges. However fiscally, the less said the better. He grew the government, grew the deficit, grew spending. A case study in what not to do. Is he a decent man? I have no doubts. However, it's hard to escape the conclusion that he is among those who consider the government to be the solution, rather than the problem.
Honest, inarticulate, misguided and lacking true conservative beliefs in important areas.

The fact that Conservatives are willing to actively willing to foment and encourage BDS after Bush is done with his Extraordinary service to this country is a classic example of the American epidemic of moral evasion. Unwilling to confront the overwhelming reality that it is far too many [not all] conservatives that refused to defend President Bush— rather than himself— that created the super stupid hysteria that is the Obama phenomena.
At some point, this madness will run its course. It will no longer be possible for Bush haters of all stripes to continue their reckless personal conduct reapling reckless results and then saying ‘Well, if it were not for the awful Presidency of George W. Bush, I would not be suffering as I am.”
I have posted ad nauseum as to how Bush’s legacy almost certainly exceeds that of even Reagan and there is little point in reiterating it. Statism does not work. It never will work. The lazy conservatives who will not defend our good President are getting every bit of malfeasance from this government that they deserve. They did this in 2006 promising a reality check and again in 2008 promising a reality check. They will probably do it again in 2010 and 2012.
I personally do not care how long this evasion continues. At some point, people will recognize that President George W. Bush gave extraordinary service not just to the USA but to the entire world.

George W. Bush did a hard job during a hard time, amidst growing treachery from the Left and their lackey press. I am more than willing to read his yet untold side of the story.

Moreover, unless you are an Historian, please don’t predict what Historians will write.Even historians can't predict what future historians will write. When they did the first Presidential Rankings, James Buchanan was deemed the greatest President of all time because he worked diligently and successfully to keep the country from falling into civil war. Lincoln fared poorly on that survey. Nowadays, most Americans have no idea who James Buchanan was, and Lincoln is a hero. I agree with this modern ranking, but who knows what twists and turns will color the views of future historians.
Bush may be judged — for better or worse — due to events that he affected, but have yet to unfold.
Fun Fact: the study of how historians interpret history is called "historiography."
