If you only see one video on the internet today, or if you only want to listen to one sound bite on the internet, this is the one you must play.
Republicans in Congress today pushed to the floor of the House of Representatives legislation that would stop AIG from using taxpayer money to pay out its executives bonuses. The Democrats killed the legislation.
Outraged, Congresswoman Foxx (R-NC) took to the floor to demand that Congresswoman Kilroy (D-OH) explain why Kilroy and the Democrats would not stop AIG from paying out the bonuses.
Kilroy flat out could not offer up any answer. Making it more delightful, Foxx refused to back down until she had an answer. Hilarity ensued.
I have some experience in enforcing payment under contract.
However, in this case I still believe there to be a moral issue.
A paid employee, as the ball player example, has every right to be paid under his contract.
An executive who makes the major financial decisions in my view has a responsibility to both stockholders and creditors.
So there may be two groups in AIG who are to receive bonuses; one group deserving and the other group scoundrels who are skimming.
As I said, it would take a lot of lawyers and a court to determine whether there is any validity to that.
AIG was a conduit for all kinds of slush.
A secret conduit to foreign banks whose own governments would not help. Secret money to Goldman Sachs, etc. Who knows whose pockets were lined with that money?
So rather than taking bonuses away from AIG people, we should be using that outrage to end AIG altogether and to get out of office every single person involved in the scandal that is AIG.
In other words, stop ranting about taking bonuses back. Instead use the bonuses as the battle cry to win the battle.
Bonuses are not the battle. They are only a skirmish within the battle.
Same for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Use the outrage over those bonuses to end both organizations.
Use the outrage to hang Barney Frank, Chris Dodds, Shumer, Paulson and the whole criminal conspiracy.
Amen !

I know what a Communist is, smartypants.
I use the word to mean someone who is tyrannical, dangerous, collectivist, statist, etc., and who is an existential threat to the U.S. I.e., the Democratic Party, and a good portion of the Republican Party.
I was so impressed by her I went to her website and contributed. www.virginiafoxx.com
Neither party is clean in this which is why we have two jobs to do before the 2010 elections.
First, we must get seat warming GOP members off their asses and place them firmly back in reality. In their place we need fiscal and social conservatives who will NOT bow down to dems hissy fits.
Secondly, we can not let up on ANY mistake or scandal plaguing this administration. He’s lost support of republicans and independents, now it’s time for moderate and conservative democrats to follow suit.
If Obama does not have approval ratings in the low 20’s by September 2009, we have not done our job.
A job we can not do if we only pay attention to the big blast in front of us and forget about the smaller sticks of dynamite behind the smoke and fire. That was my point.
