Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) looks like he may be facing a fresh political firestorm.
Dodd just admitted on CNN that he inserted a loophole in the stimulus legislation that allowed million-dollar bonuses to insurance giant AIG to go forward after previously denying any involvement in writing the controversial provision. .
We wrote the language in the bill, the deal with bonuses, golden parachutes, excessive executive compensation that was adopted unanimously by the United States Senate in the stimulus bill, Dodd told CNNs Wolf Blitzer this afternoon.
But for that language, there would have been no language to deal with this at all.
Dodd had previously said that he played no role in writing the controversial language, and was not a part of the conference committee that inserted the language in the bill. As late as today, Dodds spokeswoman denied the senators involvement.

It passed unanimously???
Wasn't that the bill that not a single Republican voted for?
Or was that in the House?
Rut Roh.
Dodd was caught red-handed in a lie. Now he’s trying to pawn it off on Geithner. Please pass the popcorn, this is getting good.
Don't bother answering. It was a rhetorical question. We all know he didn't.
So he lied earlier when I saw his smug denials. What a surprise.
3 senators voted for it.. collins snow and specter... idiot three.... no republicans voted in the house for it, and 11 democrats voted against it as well... bet they re thankful now..
He has been in the middle of the whole economic meltdown mess since day 1. He’s a dirty man and probably has committed many crimes. It’s time for him to go.
t is really difficult to get used to the realization that a scum bag like Dodd is probably par for the course when it comes to Congress.
Chrissy, take a bow. But you may want to not be standing in front of Bawney Fwank when you do, you sanctimonious twit.
Hopefully you’ll be selling used cars you #$$#&!$$
Just as a point of interest.
Dodd also wrote the law removing the 1929 protections and allowed Enron to be created.
I never invested in Enron so I have no pig in the fight but then, like now he has cost the taxpayers billions.
Dodd, one of the most corrupt politicians in American history.
Dodd, Geithner and Pelosi all need to go NOW!
Chris Dodd ought, IMHO, to be facing much more than a firestorm!
He stands for reelection in 2010. I wonder if “The Nutmeg State” will remember this then?
Right.
NO
Reelection
Ah. So Lapdog.....dang it, I did it again.....I mean Wolf.....let that "unanimous" thing go unchallenged, too, eh?
Dodd can’t take a bow as long as fudgepacker Barney Frank stands nearby.......although, that would be a great punishment no matter which one of them was on top.
Is it possible the Senate had a separate vote on that particular item, like as an amendment or something, and maybe that vote was unanimous?
Ah. Very good. That could be. I'll have to scrutinize Dodd's words a little more.
Chris, who from the Zero administration forced you to agree to the language?
Was it a”bearded stranger”?
Was it the one armed man?
Was it Bozo the Clown?
Dodd has jumped the shark so high he hasn’t landed yet.
