Actress Natasha Richardson has died Husband Liam Neeson, sons ‘shocked and devastated’ by loss

BREAKING NEWS

MONTREAL - A spokesman for the family of Natasha Richardson says the actress has died.

Richardson, a gifted and precocious heiress to acting royalty whose career highlights included the film “Patty Hearst” and a Tony-winning performance in a stage revival of “Cabaret,” died after suffering an apparent head injury from a skiing accident. She was 45.

Alan Nierob of Rogers & Cowan said in a statement Wednesday night: “Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

I did not know that her sister was Joely Richardson.

Yes Lynn Redgrave is her mother. Sending prayers to her huusband and children, 45 is too young to die.

Peace and godspeed to the family. I do not know if Liam is a believer, but he has been on my mind and heart for a couple years now...since I saw/heard him as the voice of Aslan.

He certainly portrayed a kindly man in Schindler’s List...and his performance in “Taken” was astounding.

We only know these people through a very narrow lens, their public performances, but they are God’s children, too. He loves them and grieves when they grieve.

I hope someone close to the family—all of them—can be Jesus’ hands and feet here on Earth.

At 45 she was still relatively young. You just really don’t know when your number is going to be called, do you? And when its time, its time. Best to be prepared I guess.

Oh my gosh, that's all I can think of since this story broke -- how vulnerable we are.

So sad for Natasha and her family.

I’m still bumming out about hearing of the death of Ron Silver, a fine actor and outspoken conservative of recent times. And now this and she seemed sweet, esp. considering the kooks who raised her, although with love.

I think someone made the point that we never know when it is our time. Since she’s a good 6 years younger than me, it does make one pause to think.

Man, one little bump and you could be gone.

What was that show years ago, was it Wide World of Sports? Anyway, at the beginning of every episode, they showed a skier falling down a mountain, just falling and falling and tumbling over and over for what seemed like forever. It was painful just to watch it. But I read once that the skier was not seriously hurt after that incident. It's amazing how resilient the human body can be...but other times, like you said, one little bump and you're gone!
