A showdown is shaping up in some of the nation's most conservative states over embryonic stem cell research, as opponents draw language and tactics from the battle over abortion to counter President Barack Obama's plan to ease research restrictions.
Legislation granting fertilized embryos "personhood" has gained momentum in at least three state legislatures.

Hopefully more states are looking at this as well.

I believe if enough states pass laws like this, we could be on the road to passing a Human Rights Amendment. I’ve always felt what makes Christopher Reeve of Michael J. Fox’s lives more important than the little embroyos that they want to have killed to cure them.

Thanks. I guess this would mean the research will move to other states or outside the US?

I see your “massive secession” as the only way, at this point, to save the Republic.
After the mass secession, we take the Constitution with the original 10 amendments and start over - with all FEDERAL laws currently on the books treated as void.

It certainly could have moved outside the US during the past 8 years... did it? I don’t know.
And another thing you need to remember - the embryonic stem cell research was not illegal, it just wasn’t federally funded & subsidized (as a failed technology).

It says alot about the media that they will not differentiate between adult and embryonic stems cells. It speaks volumes of their moral values, and of their opinion of the public. On the later, I think they are not, unfortunately, far off the mark. Rather than inform the public, the media serves up propaganda.

They do it purposely and constantly to confuse the public, and it’s despicable.

That I guess this would mean the research will move to other states or outside the US, if a state opposes it.
Your point in asking my point?
