Gov. Deval Patrick ratings sink like a stone (SurveyUSA: 68% Disapprove, 28% Approve)
Boston Herald ^ | March 7, 2009 | Hillary Chabot

Gov. Deval Patrick’s ratings appear to have taken a serious nosedive following months of tax hike announcements, but one politico said the new SurveyUSA poll might not be reliable.

Roughly 68 percent of the 600 people questioned in the poll say they are dissatisfied with Patrick’s job as governor. That’s up 21 points from a poll in January.

“I think the poll vastly exaggerates the level of dissatisfaction with Gov. Patrick,” said Tufts political professor Jeff Berry. “SurveyUSA polls are very primitive and you’d have to do a lot more searching questions to really accurately access the level of support.”

The automated voice “robo-poll” method is considered less accurate than live polling. A SurveyUSA representative could not be reached for comment.

The poll found women in particular soured on the governor, with 31 percent rating him favorably, down from a 54 percent favorable rating in January.

Democratic consultant Michael Shea said the high unemployment and the number of taxes unveiled by Patrick also must have hurt his favorability. “It’s never popular to ask people to reach into their pockets, regardless of how necessary it is,” he said.

SurveyUSA was even more accurate than Rasmussen, but if it's not from Gallup, CBS/NYTimes, or Pew, the liberals don't believe it.

But aren’t the white folk in the good state of Mass now open to being tagged as “racist biggots”?

Too bad Slick Willard buried the MA GOP or we might’ve been able to take advantage of this. DeVal’s biggest threat comes from the rodent primary, not a dead opposition party.

It won’t be too long before Obama bails Deval out with some other job.

My own informal poll (looking at bumper stickers as I drive around part of Massachusetts) said the same. The Deval stickers are a rarity now...and the Obama stickers, while plentiful, are no longer found on every other bleepin’ car.

You could never run such a poll with conservative or republican politicians. It only works with liberals becase, unlike conservatives, liberals are so full of themselves that they believe other motorists a) care what they think or b) need to be “educated”.

(yawn)
It’s Massholechusetts. The parasites far outnumber the hosts.
Patrick will be easily re-elected.

It depends. I’m hearing a lot of my lib friends asking me what I think about it, with this confused look on their faces that says, “I don’t pay attention to anything, I just vote for the one who’s supposed to be the good guy. How come he sucks so much? You couldn’t be right about all this stuff, could you?” Then when I tell them what I think, they look like they need to find a bathroom quick.

The ones who just voted for Patrick without much investigation (like Humble Servant described in post 11) are not happy, and they blame Patrick. To my surprise, they are aware of Patrick's recent week in Jamaica (although I had to fill them in on how he brought some state troopers along on the taxpayers dime) and his recent filling of a hack job that had been empty for 12 years with a pol friend at $175,000/year.

The ones who were all "yes we can!" and in love with him in 2006? They don't say anything. They speak about Deval if you bring him up, and even then they are on the defensive. Telling.

I think a lot of Deval's voters feel disappointed if not betrayed, especially with the tax orgy he is proposing (they should also feel stupid). Let's hope Deval is a one-termer, because it could also mean that Obama will be also. They ran the same campaign and appear to be "performing" their job the same way too.

Unfortunately, you're right.

I don't think any of the the 14 Republicans in the state of MA can/will run any type of effective campaign against this dweeb.

It's sickening.

If the Liberals don’t believe it, what’s not to like about that? Hope this carries through to the election and has some consequences for other elections in that crappy left-wing state.

There are not enough conservatives in Mass to elect Ronald Reagan to a statewide post. Move to Alabama, (not to be confused with Ohnobama), we accept conservatives even from “The Kennedy State”. And we have better weather.

Gee, with Coupe Deval in the Gov. Mansion, Obumble in the Oval Office, Sir Theodore of Chappiquidick, John Kerry, and Bawny Fwank bringing up the rear, so to speak—it should be a paradise on earth. What’s wrong? Maybe the folks are just too ignorant to appreciate the glory of the people they keep voting in, over and over.

Stupid is as stupid does, Miz Blue....

Thank you for the invitation! The old Confederacy looks like the last hope the country has. Slightly ironic isn't it?

If the Russian dude who predicted the USA will split into 6 separate whatevers is correct, I will be headed down south soon.
