Their reasons for wishing to unseat Rául were mainly turf and power, but they also feared that the leader was beginning to feel threatened by the reaction of the Cuban people to excessive economic and social deprivation, and after his brother's demise would be unable to control the flow of events. Newsweek’s love affair with the Castros continues... The MSM is without shame.
newsweak is totally untrustworthy as a source for anything. They are 100% agenda driven and would much rather print lies than the truth. One of the lies they are pushing is that if the U.S. becomes friendly with Castro’s commies, it will help Cuba to become democratic. Total BS.

Purge among the directors of Cuba’s “missions” in Venezuela
March 17 - I have received information today from people who have relatives working in the so called “misiones” in Venezuela, saying that there is a purge going on and that most of the directors have been replaced.
The “misiones” is the name used to refer to the thousands of doctors, engineers, social workers and security personnel that have been sent by the Castro regime to Venezuela in exchange for all the oil that Chavez sends to the island.
The purge began almost immediately after Carlos Laje, Felipe Perez Roque and several other Cuban officials were fired by Raul Castro.
According to relatives, doctors working in Venezuela are afraid that the Castro regime could take reprisals against those who were close to the people being replaced and that as a result, the meager salary that they currently receive could be reduced even further.
If any reader has had contact with relatives in Venezuela and has more information, please send us an e-mail: webmaster@therealcuba.com
