CRITICALLY INJURED IN SKIING ACCIDENT ###
Actress Natasha Richardson is brain dead - after falling in a ski accident in Canada - and is now on sad journey home to New York, friends told The Post today.
Richardson, who was being treated at a Montreal hospital, is being transported to New York this afternoon so her mom Vanessa Redgrave, two children and other loved ones can say goodbye before she's taken off life-support, friends said.

She was up and walking up to an hour after the accident. The fact that it can have a delayed reaction like that is really scary.

I wonder if the swelling, which takes a little time to set in, is what did it.
It says she was on the bunny slope, how can that kill someone?! What kind of fall was it? A Sonny-Bono-into-a-tree kind of fall? Just falling over on her skis and bumping her head? Sounds like more than what is being reported happened!

We were skiing just yesterday. It’s hard to imagine what happened to have caused such a serious injury. She was so vivacious and beautiful in The Parent Trap.
Yes, it does seem fast. Like they’ve given up hope immediately. But we don’t know the timeline, really.
Our family absolutely adores her in the Parent Trap.
I recall reading at one time years ago that even a fall from a bicycle can be extremely dangerous, hence the need for helmets. As in this case, there can be delayed reaction to a fall.
So sad.
Could have had an aneurysm or other undiagnosed problem that the fall triggered.

I’m wondering if she did something to her vertebrae in her neck that could be affecting her brain? I had an uncle many decades who was a fireman, and was riding on the back of a fire truck on his way to a fire when the fire truck hit a bump, and his head was thrust backwards, like it does with a whiplash. He was fine for a little while, but a few hours later, he collapsed and died. An autopsy showed he suffered a neck injury, which caused some kind of a blood clot which travelled to his brain and killed him.
Does anybody know what she hit her head on? I can’t see someone being injured this bad falling on snow while skiing the bunny slope. Maybe she had something wrong and the fall made it worse. Either way it’s a shame it had to happen.
OH, so sad. What a wonderful actress she was. Very classy lady.

If she is brain dead what is the difference? Do you even know what that means?
I guess it depends on what other organs may be shutting down because of the brain injury. The brain is not just for thinking - it is like the CPU of bodily systems.
Let’s not forget about God’s grace and that miracles happen. Prayers for all concerned.
