The White House fountains are dyed green this morning.
No, not for the $165 million in AIG bonuses, silly -- in honor of St. Patrick's day.
They were dyed this morning by White House grounds staff, ordered by White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers in honor of the Chicago tradition of dying the Chicago River on St. Patrick's Day every year.
Rogers told the Obamas her idea and the Obamas "loved it" according to a White House aide.
I think this is rather common in a lot of communities. I thought that environmentalists might have a fit, though.
Ink from taxpayer money, no doubt.
I thought maybe they could save the cost of dye and just fill the fountains with cash, since they’re printing so much of it ;)
But it is CHANGE, and it does offer HOPE...somehow.
I can’t believe they used the “SAINT” word. They really should be saying “happy holidays” out of respect to other religious observances at this time like:
March 11
Holi ** - Hindu
Hola Mohala - Sikh
March 13
L. Ron Hubbard birthday - Scientology
March 21
Ostara * - Wicca - Northern Hemisphere
Mabon * - Wicca - Southern Hemisphere
Norouz (New Year) - Persian/Zoroastrian
Naw Ruz (New Year) - Baha’i
Or do we just diss Christmas with that term?
How do they die it without leaving a stain?
Liberals don't worry about stupid stuff like history, the future, or unintended consequences.
The final step is to add bleach at the end of the day.
Well, of course, they’re the O’Bamas!
I wonder what this costs?
I wonder if anyone will care what the ACTING president’s parties tonight will cost.
Gotcha.
All the chicago thugs are in d.c. now so why not dye the White House fountains in honor of that thuggery.
Ya, will the enviro nazis go in there and demand all documentation on this, including whether biodegradable all natural coloring was used? Will there be review of the carbon footprint that this produced? How much did it cost to put the presumeably eco-friendly dye into the fountains? Where was that money budgeted originally? At a time when our schools need resources, how can the White House justify this?
How much power is used on those fountains anyway? Are they powered by clean green energy? Has the White House budgeted for the carbon credit expense to neutralize their carbon footprint.
This event brings up all sorts of conerns, that investigative journalists out to dig into.
That’s just the Chicago Way. They dye the Chicago River green on St. Paddy’s.
I guess it’s ok and fun but the White House just ought to be seen as dignified and timeless and not a party house IMO.
That’s how it struck me. I don’t want to be a party pooper, nor unfairly criticize Zero. I’m sure if Reagan had done it, I wouldn’t have cared, so if I’m honest I guess I biased, but with this crowd it just adds to what I think is the diminishing stature of the whole executive...as fun as it is, it isn’t really dignified.
I understand. But this is THE White House. Just food for thought.
bet it stains the material.....then we get to remember this AH for ever
