Grassley: AIG execs should quit or commit suicide

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley suggested that AIG executives should accept responsibility for the collapse of the insurance giant by resigning or killing themselves.

The Republican lawmaker's harsh comments came during an interview Monday with Cedar Rapids, Iowa, radio station WMT. They echo remarks he has made in the past about corporate executives and public apologies, but went further in suggesting suicide.

"I suggest, you know, obviously, maybe they ought to be removed," Grassley said. "But I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they'd follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I'm sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide.

"And in the case of the Japanese, they usually commit suicide before they make any apology."

Lead the way, Chuck. Ever hear of the word 'oversight'?

Way too many of you idjiots fail to even read what is in the legislation you vote for.

Talk about the blind leading the .. herd.

The Senate was intended to act as the saucer that the tea from the House tea cup would be allowed to cool in before consumption.

Now we know how the Romans felt as the Senate dawdled along , never mindful nor wishing to be of their own actions nor anticipating the subsequent consequences.

Number one, thew dems, rinos, and leftists creaated this problem with their legislation and activism getting companies to make ludicrous loans to people who should never have had them...and in many cases creating laws that forced it.

Number two, they should not have given any truly failing companies any money. They shoulad have had to use the laws on the books (CHapter 11) to reorganize and come out a smaller, better manged company.

Number three, if they gave them money and the companies were in distress, they are going to have to use that money to help keep talented people among other things so they can actually turn around. The talented people, in a decline and potential bankruptcy are going to be inclined to look for work elsewhere. If all the talent leaves and you are in trouble, you will have to pay incentive bonuese to get people to come there (and learn the system) or do the same for people already there so they will not leave.

Obama and his ilk and all of these politicians need to get the heck out of this business. They are juts making things worse as they try to dismantle the free market.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S UPBRINGING

WRITE ALL GOP SENATORS TODAY

IT'S TIME FOR A RETURN TO THE OLD SCHOOL

I'm not an AIG fan, but I hate the U.S. Senate even more. We need a complete housecleaning in the Senate - they are all useless, or worse.

:) Even though it would be a funny sight to see the rich ba$tards commit suicide, I believe the politicians (especially Grassley) should do it first. They all suck!!! They sold us out to the foreigners of the world.

Communist states executed “economic criminals.” We aren’t too far from doing it here.

Only if the LOOTERS in congress like Mr. Grassley would follow that advice.

How about all the congressmen (women) and Senators who voted to give AIG unrestricted money and the prez who signed the bill commit suicide?

Chuck can say it unlike , Chris Dodd who voted for the bonuses.

While the Senate was constructing the $787 billion stimulus last month, Dodd added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. That amendment provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009” -- which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are now seeking to tax.

The amendment made it into the final version of the bill, and is law. Separately, Sen. Dodd was AIG’s largest single recipient of campaign donations during the 2008 election cycle with $103,100, according to opensecrets.org.

Not a good couple weeks for Republicans. I tell you they could get a lot more done if they did not speak nonsense. Now what if one of the executives does kill themselves? That would not be good for the Senator and the family would probably sue and win. Think before speaking Republicans....(notice I did not say conservatives).

Hate to tell you so, but I told you so. Government should never have bailed out these yahoos. Let ‘em go belly up.

To err is human. To really FUBAR requires government intervention.

Great...just as Iowa is getting bluer...Just what we need. These Senators just want tv time but don’t think about what they are saying until it is too late.

Have you ever even heard of Iowa?

This is populist readmeat, especially for the rural, exurban and Reagan Democrats that elect Chuck.
