I considered getting some machine tools and manufacturing a carbine in 45 ACP that accepts 1911 magazines. They would all be stamped “Restricted: Civilian / Private Use Only”. I would not sell them to law enforcement under any circumstances.

In addition to the Marlin .45 Camp Carbine (which is getting increasingly harder to find), you could get one of these Mec Tech units. They attach to a 1911 frame, and since they do not contain the action are not required to be purchased through an FFL.
