Step1—Regulate crop production thereby causing prices to rise considerably.

Step 2—When prices soar put price controls on them.

Step 3—When farmers refuse to grow crops at a loss, confiscate their property.

Step 4—State farms now produce all and everyone lives happily ever after.

Right out of Hugo’s playbook.

Step 4—State farms now produce all and everyone lives in the communist government dictatorship they voted for.

State farms now produce all and everyone lives happily ever after.

During Stalin’s era, in Russia, the state produced all the food. However farmers would not farm. If they were told to take ten tons of fertilizer and put it on a certain field, they took the ten tons and dumped it in the middle of the field. There was no incentive to plant the seed properly and resulted in very poor germination. At the end of the day the farmers spent their spare time working in their own gardens where most of their food came from, and even sold some of it on the black market. Food was at a premium.

Some of you will remember that the Soviet Union purchased massive amount of grain from the U.S. to subsidize their own shortfall production.

If this is what Obama, and our congress, is planning I see many people in cities starving to death, because that is what happened in Russia.
