I am not joking. It is a waste of valuable funding that should go elsewhere to more promising programs or current needs.
I don’t know a single AF pilot who believes men will be in planes during the next fight. UAV are the future platform.
Remember the military is a government bureaucracy as well.
Our nation’s defense doesn’t need a military-industrial complex feeding off the tax-payer trough.

Your yapping on the old “military industrial complex” was already tried by the hippies in the 60s. Why don’t you take it to DU.

Our nations defense doesnt need a military-industrial complex feeding off the tax-payer trough. It does if you want to continue having the next generation of defense technology developed. Of course if you are satisfied having the Russians and Chinese, and the North Koreans, catch and surpass our weapons technology then your argument (which pretty much matches that of Carter and clinton) makes a lot of sense.

While it is always appropriate to cut waste and fat from any large budget, blanket statements like the one you made are idiotic.

My step father who still holds the second most hours in the air in the Air Force has many medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. His position is that you will always need a human to make a discussion. He agrees the UAV's do have their place but not as the main defense.
also the F15's are getting old the 'A' frame can not fly much longer and it would not be cost effective to rebuild them. So we need a fighter and the only fighter at the moment that can replace the F15's are the F22.
