The F-22 will actually save money if it is cut. It is a massive mis-allocation of tax monies.

Why won’t he cut the Osprey completely as well?

Because the Osprey has Killed over 30 Marines and is a stupidly unstable platform. Obama wants the US military humbled and junk like the V-22 will do just that.

He might, but I hope they save the F-35, we really need that airplane’s capability IMO.

Sounds like my wife talking. “Honey, I actually saved money on this F-22, it was buy 2 and get one free, so I really saved 90 million dollars.”

The real tragedy is the money that went to ACORN would build an aircraft carrier.

So basically the US air force stops using its new 5th generation fighter thats already in service, and goes back to the F-16 and F-15 for another 30+ years?
Your kidding, right?

The Osprey has been a huge waste of money. It has taken over 20 years to get it into service and then only by greatly relaxing the maneuverability requirements. I have long argue that by redesigning the fuselage shapes, engines, and avionics of existing aircraft, we could equal the performance of the F-22 fora fraction of the cost. And don’t get me started on the F-35.

Wrong. The F-22 is the next (5th Generation) fighter and is the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world. They are expensive, but you need much fewer of them to dominate the skies than you do F-15s or F-16s. Would you'd rather we stop our technological advance and let the Russians and Chinese catch up with us? They would be more than happy to oblige.
