Vet worried about Obama plan
Contra Costa Times ^ | 03/16/2009 | David Goldstein

"When a man goes and defends his country and gets injured and then they want your insurance to pay, that's wrong," said David Gerke, a 60-year-old Vietnam veteran and retired postal worker from Kansas City. "When we went into the service, we were told our medical needs... would be taken care of for the rest of our lives." "It's a betrayal," said Joe Violante, legislative director of Disabled American Veterans, which signed the letter to Obama. "My insurance company didn't send me to Vietnam, my government did. The same holds true for men and women now fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's the government's responsibility." "There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran's personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide," the heads of several veterans groups said in their letter to Obama.

As more people learn of Obama's plans to change our country, the "let them eat cake" attitude of this administration, will be their undoing.

I wonder if these men voted for Zero. I have seen statistics that suggest appx. 40% of Veterans supported him.

You most definitely get what you vote for! Unfortunately everyone suffers.

Shinseki says that the plan hasn’t been decided yet. How nice. The fact is that it’s a disgrace that it was ever given consideration.

Yep, it was an insult to even consider it.

U R D*mn Right! politicians send our men and women to war as they sit high and holy in their comfy quarters paid for by taxpayers.......let them go to war. Let them send their family to war to fight their political wars.

If politicians fought wars, there would be no war!

If obama ever paid in his life there would be no taxes.

What I find so hard to believe is that I have buddies who can barely walk because they were blown up so many times(I consider myself blessed), yet President Obama, continuously talks about cutting their health care so the people who are able bodied but CHOOSE not to work can get it instead.
I sincerely hopes that he goes to visit some outposts in Afghanistan. He needs to see and feel what it is like out there.

Do you really think it will matter to the annointed one?

Nobody will enlist and the re-enlistment rate will go to zero.
He is trying to destroy the military and then America.

How much are we going to take?

The ONLY thing I can credit Patty Murray with, is she has already said this proposal is DEAD ON ARRIVAL should they receive it.

Basically the goverment is comprised of a bunch of traitors. I saw a guy on one of the financial talk shows indignantly complaining that referring to government as an ongoing criminal enterprise is beyond the pale. My immediate thought was “Hey, I don’t remember talking to you.”

Beyond the pale or not, that is an accurate description of those creeps in Washington, DC and Party affiliation has nothing to do with it.

If we quit paying for illegals and funneled that money to our vets, this would not be an issue.
