Wow, those White House and State Department protocol offices are sure working overtime!

>>The rejection was heightened by the that’s-the-night-I-wash-my-hair explanation the Gridiron got from Obama.

At first, Gridiron members heard through back channels that the Obama family would be in Chicago during the Obama daughters’ spring break from school. Then, on Friday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said at his daily briefing that the family would actually be in Camp David on March 21, the night of the dinner.

That’s not exactly out of town by presidential standards — in fact, it is about a 20-minute helicopter ride if Obama had decided the event were important enough.

According to one member, “We got the impression from talking to our senior members who had talked to senior people at the White House that Mrs. Obama had made the decision about the family’s spring break and no one on the senior staff was about to challenge that.”

A White House official said this is untrue — Obama made the decision and it should not be pinned unfairly on the first lady. <<

In other words “The devil made me do it”?

Obama is a social moron. His absence from a traditionally attended activity should be considered good news. Who wants a boorish, egotistical a**hole stealing attention from the persons who rightfully should be honored at the gathering?

“But some Gridiron veterans make clear they don’t understand. Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page said, ‘People feel uncommonly saddened, miffed and burned...’”

How many times are we going to hear this in the next four years?

This guy is nothing but an autistic savant, only instead of being able to play anything on the piano by ear or memorizing pi to seven million digits, all he can do is read speeches off Teleprompters in a mellifluous voice.

He has absolutely no feelings whatsoever about anyone - we are nothing but objects to him.

President Bush gave some downright hilarious Gridiron speeches during his term. They should invite him in Obama’s place!

I hate the media, but they did elect him. He needs to at least pay homage to them, even if he can’t be bothered with our allies (-:

It’s really simple. Barry has no sense of humor, and finds it very unpleasant to make fun of himself.

I still remember watching a clip of JFK at the Gridiron Dinner in 1961, mocking his own speech attacking US Steel management. He brought the house down with laughter, and deposited the esteem of the Washington Press in his pocket. Barry, Caroline Kennedy was very wrong about you.

That would be absolutely hilarious. I'd love to see how sniveling and snarky Robert Gibbs would be during the press conference the next day.

Just face it, media, Obama used you like XXX-42 used women. Now put some ice on it and go back to worshiping The One.

It’s interesting to note that Obama has dissed the prestigious Gridiron Dinner, but plans to appear on the celebrity-festooned “Tonight Show,” selling his economic plan like a starlet sells her new movie.

No one slight will do Obama in. It will be the result of a collective of moves that turns all sides against the middle. Before long, Obama won’t have a friend in Washington, but to paraphrase Harry Truman:

If you want a friend in Washington, bring Michelle.

That's it in a nutshell. He has no sense of self-deprecation, and can't even stand to have his policies criticized! He is easily offended (like most liberals) and has a massively overinflated ego (like most liberals). He's "special", y'know.
