LOL.
Looks like the three of us agree.
I never liked when Ingraham or Coulter made personal attacks, even against Democrat women. They’re held up as representing conservatives/conservative women, so they make the rest of us look mean and low when they make these personal attacks.
“Laura has been doing this to people — “the little people” for quite some time.”
Glad you pointed that out, so it’s nothing new. I’ve rarely heard her, but when I’ve been able to, I always thought she made excellent points without being overtly insulting to anyone, unless she was insulting their competence or something like that. This cattiness demeans her in my book.
Laura was mocking the exact SAME tone liberals take when talking about conservatives (Sarah Palin, anyone?) It was a backhand to Mehgan Mccain and liberals. Im shocked more freepers didnt get it.
...in a mud-wrestling match.
Just sayin'.
We’re taking it out of context then? You may be right (wouldn’t be the first time the media hyped something like this) but I don’t understand how or why Laura would want to take the same tone as liberals and call Meghan fat - and wondering what purpose it serves to do so.
But since I didn’t actually hear the comments, I’ll take you at your word and search it out. Thanks.
Laura does this all the time. If this were just a one time thing, then yeah, I’d say it would be suspect. But she constantly mocks the left and their stupid tone, including the valley girl one, all the time.
Meghan started this with a personal attack on Ann Coulter and then whined about Conservatives.
I think it is fair to say that plus-sized and fat are synonyms. Making derogatory references to someone’s weight is just plain catty in my book.
Of course I suppose you could argue that all concerned are guilty of violating Reagan’s 11th commandment.
Posters who are upset over Laura’s comments, should see what has been posted on FR regarding the appearance of Hillary and Chelsea. Where were they then?
I’m not buying that. You don’t justify her poor treatment of Meghan McCain by pointing to poor treatment of Sarah Palin.
She could have criticized McCain without make a snide comment about her weight.
And, again, she has a habit of mocking people’s apperances — an not merely of those with whom she disagrees. She loves to tell us, in I suppose what she thinks is “humorous” anecdotes, about all the unslightly little people she has to encounter — whether it is sitting behind the funny looking hippies on the plane or sitting next to the fat guy with the hairy toes at her pedicure. Poor Laura is assuluted by the mere sight of unattractive people on a regular basis and just HAS to share it with us, as if her audience is a group of 8th grade girls at a slumber party.
I’ve been very critical of Coulter’s personal attacks, but I give Coulter a little more leeway. Coulter’s entire M.O. is to cut people with her ascerbic wit. She’s supposed to be the flame-thrower of the right. Laura, on the other hand, is a Catholic mom. She routinely talks about the over-sexualization of our young girls and she talks about being a strong role model for young women. She talks about character being more important than image and clothes..........yet turns around and attacks a woman for her appearance? Laura knows better and should be setting a better example for her little girl.
I don’t remember posts about Chelsea and Hillary, but I do recall taking people to task when they made fun of Tipper Gore and Elizabeth Edwards.
make=making
apperances=appearances
an=and
is=are
assuluted=assaulted
correction...Ann Coulter usually sticks to attacks on the liberal politicians.....not their blog writing daughters. Laura was out of bounds to make a personal attack on this young woman and should just outright apologize and move on.
Who knows? Would it be more acceptable if they addressed their issues by shoving their fingers down their throats? Maybe they just like to eat. Maybe they just tend to gain weight more easily than their mother. Mrs. McCain certainly has a lot to be stressed about and she’s as thin as a rail. Why do you have to assume there is a problem? Maybe she is just happy the way she is.
That is one explanation - holds in some cases. Meghan certainly has overreacted to the truth.
