Apparently, the Obama administration hasnt backed away from its plans to start offloading costs for wounded veterans to third-party insurance, which will make acquiring such insurance nearly impossible. The commander of the American Legion emerged from a meeting with President Obama angered at Obamas insistence on generating revenue from those who sacrificed for American security:
The leader of the nations largest veterans organization says he is deeply disappointed and concerned after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.
It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan, said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.
The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate to care for him who shall have borne the battle given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harms way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of Americas veterans!

CHANGE! Change we can BELIEVE in!!
Yep - what started the Veteran’s benefits might just come back around.
there is a sign,(has been for awhile now), at the military hosp. we are seen at, that they will charge the third party insurance if you have it. we are retired military.
Ironically, the Constitution forbids a standing (regular) army.
It’s all part of his plan for better health insurance. I’m waiting to see who benefits. It’s pretty clear who gets punished.
Fixed.
IMHO healtcare should be provided for veterans injured by war before anyone else gets any healthcare. Is this the first step of rashioning?
They can lead we’ll shore up the back with the teabag protests. :)
44% of Veterans who voted in 2008 voted for Obama. McCain won Vets by only 10%, down from Dubya who won veterans by a 16% margin.
You get what you deserve, I suppose. Taken in by hopey-changey talk.
If Obama is allowed to serve even a full four years we should all be ashamed. This monster must go. If we just had a national hero to lead us on a march to DC I think a few millions voters trying to get to the WH would shake things up a bit.
May as well let our soldiers die on the battlefield, as far as Obama is concerned. After all, most vets would not vote for him in 2012.
He has broken 90% of promises already. I suppose he will do the same here.
I have to say I would NOT serve under a liberal president. Nor would I suggest anyone else serve. Let the idiots get overtaken by the same enemy they try to negotiate with. Then once the liberals all gone those of us with guns and a love for America can rise up and take the country back.
meanwhile, illegal immigrants get “free” health care paid for by these brave men and women who will now have to pay for their own wounds. sick.
Military coup détat? AND Civilian revolution
As bad as John McCain was he was much preferred then Obama. A free Republic is unable to sustain a majority of fools that will elect such an abomination into the presidency. I feel bad for this nation but we deserve this president. The moral fabric has been steadily ripped away for decades and our punishment is ruling now.
