It is stupid and unacceptable.
I have it from other sources that this may not be totally true. If anything its to limit the export only of once fired military brass.

There is a very good thread on this at The Firing Line forum. Even they can’t be sure exactly what is going on but suffice to say that they are for the most part sceptical.

“...critical ammo shortage...”
Hard to believe when I visit the firearms section at the local Bass Pro shop.
Don't make me laugh.
It's the socialist / communist game plan.
Until you, and others, are ready to take your country back from these criminal gangs occupying our goverment offices, you will simply be wasting your time writing letters & calling these globalists.
But hey ... it's your time, paper, pen, and phone.
S'cuse me ... I need to shed a tear.
I have the back half of an M1 Garand receiver that was destroyed by the Xlinton administration that I bought at a gun show for a quarter. I stumbled across it again the other day. It made me sad and sick to see it again, and remember what a waste it was.
If it is a hoax, then all the small reloading component businesses who sell government auction purchased brass are falling for it.
Every supplier of once fired brass is either out, or has ‘suspended sales’ on their remaining stock. Basically overnight all sources of the brass have dried up.
I just ordered 1000 pieces of new Winchester .223 brass from Cabelas, they have lot in stock at good prices(for new brass).
Here’s a link to a list of once fired brass sellers...most of them have none, the ones that do are sitting on it.

He didn’t get the Garands. Congress had made a law years before ordering the military to turn over all their M1 Garands to the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
But your point is well taken.
P.S. I am certain that this isn’t true.

This is a well-calculated back door approach to gun control, as well as a SHINING example of Fed.gov WASTE.

If it’s not boxer primed, you can’t reasonably reload it. When I was in the service, military ammo was not boxer primed, if that is still the case, you might as well melt it and make something useful, like more ammo.
This weekend the owner of a local gunstore told me that new EPA regulations forbid a shooting range from selling the brass they sweep up to the scrap dealers because the brass is contaminated. I would not be surprised, but has anyone else heard something like this?
