"The man responsible for the present state of Israel was Harry Truman."

Wrong.

Truman's own man ....Truman's Ambassador to the UN voted against the establishment of the State of Israel.

"..On March 19, 1948, Warren Austin, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, without the President's knowledge or White House clearance, announced on national radio as well as to the UN Security Council that the US government opposed the partition of Palestine. On March 20, Secretary of State George Marshal made a similar announcement. ..."

If you believe that crap about Truman having "no knowledge"  then you are a beyond naive. Truman was against the so called "Jewish State."

The USA however, was first to recognize the new State once it did pass the UN vote acknowledging Israel as a State.

Truman evidently read a few polls on the issue.

He was (Re-) elected President the following year, BTW!
