Cincinnati Tea Party Domonstrates Downtown

Last Update: 7:42 pm
The Cincinnati Tea Party, which many have heard about in recent weeks, is a bonafied organization.

Group leaders refer to the party as a grassroots, non-partisan group opposed to wasteful spending.

Thousands met on fountain square Sunday afternoon to support the group and express their frustration with the recent stimulus bill passed by President Obama.

Unfortunately a small isolated group of angry people, many of whom who said they were frustrated with the media, caused WCPO’s crew to leave the event early.

However many saved their passion for the podium. As thousands gathered around in support of the tea party, speaker after speaker hit the stage expressing why they feel our government’s spending is out of control.
“We’re just tired of overspending and for all the reasons, they’re wasting money on things that we didn’t have anything to do with,” said tea party supporter Cindy Akers.

But not everyone agrees with the Cincinnati Tea Party.
“Clearly the American public is strongly behind President Obama right now. These are scary times and they require some very desperate measures,” said Tim Burke from the Hamilton County Democratic Party.

Tea party events are not exclusive to cincinnati. In recent months they’ve been organized in many major cities across the country.
