A Weak President Fails to Respond to National Threats

This is news that is nearly 12 hours old and still no word from the President.

” AP – MOSCOW – A Russian air force chief said Saturday that the country could base some strategic bombers in Cuba or on an island offered by Venezuela, the Interfax news agency reported, but a Kremlin official quickly said the military had been speaking only hypothetically.

The U.S. and Russia have been trying to reset their relationship, severely strained over U.S. plans to position missile defense elements in Poland and the Czech Republic and by Russia’s invasion of U.S. ally Georgia last year.

Russia has nothing to gain strategically from basing long-range craft within relatively short range of U.S. shores, independent military analyst Alexander Golts said, calling the military statement a retaliatory gesture aimed at hitting back after U.S. ships patrolled Black Sea waters near Georgia.

The chief of staff of Russia’s long range aviation, Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, was quoted by Interfax as saying Saturday that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had offered “a whole island with an airdrome, which we can use as a temporary base for strategic bombers.”

“If there is a corresponding political decision, then the use of the island … by the Russian Air Force is possible,” Zhikharev was quoted as saying.

Interfax reported he said earlier that Cuba has air bases with four or five runways long enough for the huge bombers and could be used to host the long-range planes.”

Of course this is totally unacceptable and the President should have already thrown down the gauntlet. This is clear violation of the Monroe Doctrine, and cannot be left unanswered. Instead he’s giving a Saturday weekly address on the dangers of bad spinach.

Has Obama cancelled the MONROE DOCTRINE?...or just lack the cajones to uphold it?? The answer, I'm sure won't be a surprise to anyone.

Dems are going to whupped in 2010. Once the masses realize we’re in serious economic and military jeopardy they’ll finally wake up and throw this gang out of power. Dems pols will see the hand writing on the wall and try to save their own skins; they’ll be distancing themselves from Obama too.

BHO seems to be the type that ignores problems, hoping they will go away. I picture his cabinet hourly urging him to make decisions he cannot make. And they thought Bush was and international embarrassment? Obama is a nightmare.

The Chinese and the Russians will continue to push the envelope, with little concern of pushback from the administration.

I honestly don’t think he will consider Russian bombers off our coast as threats. Neither will anyone in his administration and to be truthful they aren’t the threat they once were when we had missiles pointed at each other ready to go at a moments notice.

However, if the bombers come equipped with onboard fissile material that would of course be a horse of a different color!

BHO will vote “present” on this roll call. Which he isn’t.

I appreciate your point, but unemployment at 10% plus, increasing military tensions abroad, higher taxes, the return of inflation, bloated government, etc. are going to hard to gloss over. As during the Carter era, things simply became too bad to hide.

I’d be willing to bet that – except for gold and silver -- Obama’s key “handler” (Soros) is short every U.S. market and has his “boy” talking the markets down every day.

Ask yourself what they will do to temporarily ease those factors:

Unemployment at 10%? Extended benefits
Military tensions abroad? promised treaties
Inflation? increase SS and medicaid benefits
Bloated gov’t? That already buys votes from every civil servant and family member of a civil servant.
Higher taxes? praise to those who are “doing their part”.

It’s all how they twist it for the 6 weeks prior to the election. If the media ignores it, then for most people, it does not exist.

And sadly the left likes it.

The other day at work, a man sad to me: "Don't you get it? Capitalism doesn't work. People won't fight for it, because it is a failure."

My heart sank. These Huffpo readers are now PROUD of their anti-capitalism stance and positions.
