The gun grabbers are using every angle they can. A lead ban is one of the most insidious. Tungsten is very expensive compared to lead in particular. They also know that Steel core ammo will be classified Armor piercing.

The tungsten ammo comes from China. DiFi and AlGore made sure of it by shutting off the last tungsten mine in the US, precluding any more (there's plenty), and selling off the strategic reserve.

I went to a local gun shop (where I bought my AR) and asked for some 62gr. surplus stuff. The steel tipped, not the steel core, and they threatened to call homeland security on me.
I meant to tell them I buy the stuff at gun shows and can order it online even in Illinois. Didn't bother and I don't patron them anymore because these guys would be the first to cave.

I suspect that the administration of Marxist Obama is doing a lot of the behind-the-scenes heavy lifting on this, and other measures designed to separate us from our Second Amendment.

Tungsten is an armor piercing element. It is considered a “Cop Killer” bullet if the bullet has that in it.
