Thanks for the video link. I don’t know if I can stand to watch all that cr@p. The fact that they are naming it after Hatch and Kennedy probably tells me all I need to know.

Oh please try. I know. I listened to the sound in the background because I just couldn't look at them. I was able to listen to first 35 minutes or so. I may go back to it.

I couldn't figure out if this was a Senate meeting to rally support for H.R. 1388 or was it for another Bill to follow H.R. 1388?

See if you can force yourself to listen to a little bit. I think Hatch or Feinstein introduced John McCain. I think it was Hatch who said, .."I am sure we can count on Sen. McCain to work with Sen. Kennedy and push through this Bill." All smiles. Gross.

I couldn't watch it straight but I had it on in the background while I did busy work on the computer. Try it and let me know if you heard anything else worth noting.

You might also want to decide on a Keyword to use for threads you ping, such as “HR1388” or “Giveact”.

Excellent suggestions. Thanks.

Download the PDF version so you can use the search function to look for key words in the legislation. The part where I found the stuff that sounds like some sort of indoctrination program is in Subtitle B—Amendments to Subtitle B (Learn and Serve America)

Thanks for the tips. This will make it so much easier to review again.

"..snip..Some open government groups, such as the Sunlight Foundation and the Campaign Legal Center, criticize the Center's failure to disclose its contributors, particularly since it is so influential in appointments to the Obama administration."

So legally they don't have to disclose their contributors because it is considered a private organization, right? Here again, Obama has to hide the real truth.

George Soros the ringmaster. Would you consider him a Fascist? I do. He is the largest donor to over 500 organizations like MoveOn, AmericaComing Together,Campaign for a Progressive Future, etc.

It seems like an incredible thick web with such deep roots and connections with Fascism.I feel like we skipped right through Socialism.

Media is such a key component to their entire propaganda machine.

I hate to be the one to speak everybody's thoughts, but too many are thinking what I've put in writing. Realizing a problem brings about responsibility. What people choose to do now will directly bear on the outcome. Somebody is sure to tell me that I've stated the obvious with that last sentence. But citizens have a responsibility, and it's not the watered down version of responsibility as defined by enviro-weenies, the governemtn, the GLBT agenda crowd, or the public school system.

Those who don't fully understand the problem can't be expected to act, and there are a fair number of these afoot. Certain among us think that they're incomprehensible, but they do exist. They not only don't understand the problem, but they don't even think there is a problem. Or worse than this, they think that the only ones who can fix the problem are the enemy and must be systematically picked off as extremists, fanatics, constitutionalists, defenders of the unborn, and home schoolers. It's a matter of time before the definition of Domestic Terrorist is broadened and that day of choosing which I mentioned will come that much closer along with it.

I remember when it was suggested by a former administration that it might be nice if they would each volunteer 1 day a MONTH to go out around their housing and pick up the trash, litter...etc.and the residents had a tissyfit....

Thanks for bringing this up; I recall it as well. Additionally, didn’t the ACLU defend their right NOT to have to do the work?

We've evaluated preparedness from a standpoint of what we can realistically hope to handle. As far as something as bad as TEOTWAWKI, we're as prepared as we're ever going to be. I won't go into detail here because there's a standard list of "must haves" in the face of a systems collapse.

However, the problem is that NOBODY will fend off sanctioned intruders. At best, they'll do as my neighbor intends and kill perhaps a few of them. They might even kill them all. They MIGHT kill them all and live! But woe be to the FIRST ones who do this! They'll certainly be reported as domestic terrorists who possessed an arsenal of assault rifles and of course the usual compliment of anti-government propaganda (i.e. - a copy of the U.S. Constitution!) will be found on their premises.

You've hit on the root of the problem. NOBODY is ready. Because of the way most humans operate, most won't think about grouping together until they have a reason to act large scale in a manner which is self protective.

This thread is reminding me very much of things which a good many of us have read in the book "Enemies Foreign and Domestic". I knew that someday, the dissassembly of this nation would bring about similar things, but it's disturbing to think that we could be as close as we are. The signs are present, observable, and quantifiable.

Best post ever.

I appreciate it, but I don't think anybody realizes how much I loathe reading things like that, much less writing it.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:

There has been a change in House Floor Schedule for Tuesday.

I just received an updated version in my email box from Rep. Eric Cantor.

http://republicanwhip.house.gov/floor/3-16-091.pdf

H.R. 1388, The Give Act has been removed from the schedule.
Can FReepers look into this and see if you come up with any different information.

The notice I received March 13, 2009, Friday night at 6:47pm indicated HR 1388 would be “Subject to Rule” on Tuesday. See link below.

http://republicanwhip.house.gov/floor/3-16-09.pdf

HR1388 is the last item listed.

Perhaps they will carry it over to Wednesday. Is there other places I can look on the web to verify?

Thank you for your help.

What gives the Government the right to require individuals to give 3 years service under the guise of “volunteer” service?

Governments have no rights, they only have obligations.

Our government is not fulfillitn its obligations.

“Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation and that you move out of your comfort zone. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual – uninvolved, uninformed – you have to stay at the seat at the table of democracy with a man like Barack Obama not just on Tuesday but in a year from now, in four years from now, in eights years from now, you will have to be engaged.”- Michelle Obama at UCLA
