What’s Really Going On

Confused about the way things are going in Washington? Here's a quick guide to help figure things out.

Barack Obama is half-way through his first 100 days in office, and the country is a mess. The stock market continues to tank, and the best advice our illustrious leader has for the nation is to just suck it up, because things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Campaign promises for complete transparency have become completely opaque as life-altering bills are negotiated in Congressional back rooms, and signed into law without even the formality of a public hearing. Promises to veto pork-laden legislation and curb earmark abuse have given way to blaming yet-to-be-signed legislation on a previous Administration; and when that excuse doesn't pass the laugh test, to re-define an end to pork and earmarks as a theoretical goal, not an actual policy objective.

Barack Obama promised us hope and change. We've seen very little real change as far as the process of government goes, and virtually no hope that things are getting better anytime soon. So, are you confused about the way things are going in Washington? Don't be. In fact, it's all rather simple to understand.

Can the present trend be reversed?

Now let me get you really depressed. I don't see any way out of this situation. Counter-action requires two things: awareness and leadership. The media will do its best to hide or excuse the Obama administration's duplicity and incompetence. What they can't hide, Congress will address through a reauthorization of the Fairness Doctrine (albeit by another name). Even in the best of times, when information is readily available, most people would rather watch MTV or a sporting event than try to understand what is really going on in Washington. Suppressing what little truth exists magnifies this ignorance a thousandfold.

Nope...politically and economically the US has already gone off the cliff. The media have closed their eyes and are hoping for a soft landing. They will never admit they gave us the shove...

Roberts and Alito are the only bright spots.

Bambi and the rest of the scialists in power have the express purpose of destroying the middle class so that they can offer us government largesse as our only means of survival thus insuring a permanent democrat majority.

Remember a few years ago when they commonly expressed surprise that the middle class refused to vote for them when it was, according to them, to be in our economic interest to do so? Well, they are now engineering our dependence upon government as the only way we can survive. They are nationalizing health and banking using a permutation on the mugger's logic of "Your money or your life". Instead, Obama/Pelosie/Reid are sying, "Your money and your life"

They want permanent control of a huge dependent class. They are half way there.

I've heard those names ... aren't they the guys who are supposed to declare unconstitutional laws as null and void?

Whatever became of them? And that Thomas guy, too! Last I heard, they were traded to Kansas City for a minor league player to be named later.

Sad.

Hence, as the author says, the liberals will allow the economy to tank even further while playing the psychological game of "your job might be next if we don't pass this legislation".

First, liberals have to create distrust between your employer and yourself. You must hate them for their largesse and elaborate vacations.

Second, liberals have to create paranoia in the minds of workers that their job might be next. The media will assist this willingly.

Third, once the economy falters to even worse levels and the average worker is completely uncertain about their future and how to protect their family and standard of living, the liberals will easily pass Card Check, national healthcare and the fairness doctrine.

Even manyt of those predisposed to being conservative will turn to socialism to protect their own.

Short of a man-made economic disaster or enemy attack, we're totally screwed.

More frightening is that if & when either of these occur, there will be hordes of people who still won't give up their faith in Obama et al. These events could have the perverse effect of making them cling even harder to the fallacy that we just need "more help". After all, cult followers often kill themselves in their desire to continue belief in the leader.

Sure wish they'd hurry up about it.

There may be a solution. If we can get 1,000,000 freedom-minded folks to agree to move to New Zealand, we can start America from scratch the way it should be. That country is now governed by a right of center government whose Prime Minister said last week, “You can spend yourself out of the problem.” He gets it. The country has a population of 4.2 million so our 1.0 million gives us the power to keep a right of center government in power for a long long time. This may be our only hope.

Unlike the USA, New Zealand takes their immigration laws seriously and won't let a million Americans in. Unless they bring a few million dollars each as investment capital. ;)
