A federal judge in Washington, D.C, dismissed a case yesterday brought by Michael Newdow and the American Humanist Association seeking to ban prayer and the phrase "so help me God" from presidential inaugurations.
Newdow, a California attorney who pushed a case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court in an unsuccessful effort to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, previously joined Dan Barker, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and others in an attempt to obtain an injunction barring pastors Rick Warren and Joseph E. Lowery from praying at Barack Obama's inauguration.
As WND reported, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton refused to halt Inauguration Day prayers and rejected Barker and Newdow's requests to stop Chief Justice Roberts from saying "so help me God" at the end of the presidential oath.
In court yesterday, Judge Walton again ruled against Newdow and company in the atheists' attempt to ban prayer and "so help me God" from future inaugurations.
The Pacific Justice Institute, a non-profit legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom, represented pastors Warren and Lowery in the case.

"This decision hopefully sends a loud signal to church separationists everywhere that the courts in the United States will not allow for the censorship of religious expression from the public square. "
Perhaps the oldest and yet most truthful cliche’
“Satan never sleeps.”
So.... who is praying for Newdow? Sounds like he would be a perfect follower of Jesus. Im serious. If satan takes down a pastor many of the weak loose faith. If the Holy Spirit draws Newdow what effect would that have? Put him on your prayer list.
Well, saving an evil like Newdow would certainly be a test of prayer.
A true Christian challenge—the kind that count the most.
Jesus saved a taxman—after that anything should be possible.

Baptist Ping
its “Freedom of religion”..not “Freedom from religion”
This is one Christian who can fully admit the inability to pray for Newdow; I’m not a good enough Christian to do so.
In fact, the only prayer enters my head about the man is “God, please do not let this scumbag succeed, Amen.”
God, please do not let this scumbag succeed, Amen.
Same thing I say about the current occupant of the White House.
I pray for our country to survive.
I fear, if I was to even think about the current chief-in-training white house critter I’d use such language God would strike me down immediately....
I couldn’t even pray for Obama to have good health, he’s an enemy of everything this country stands for as well as an enemy to all that is moral, just and right.
Jesus not only saved him.... Look at what Zacchaeus said...” If I have cheated ( and in the original greek the word is (if and I have ) I will repay it back twice what I owe.”
So who was affected when the scum of the earth was saved???
Well certainly Zacchaeus, and Jesus of course, but think about this..... Jesus’ love transformed a legal thief, and we paid everyone back more than he stole.
Lottery for the town.
Tell me something, Who in their right mind could have ever seen that coming? This has God written all over it. There is almost never a clear path to His Blessing. Read Joseph and how he came to power.
The point is you can never predict the impact of God on someones heart. Maybe that is why Jesus said Pray for your enemy and bless them. Maybe just maybe Jesus didnt explain what would happen when you do.... cause no one would buy it.
