One of my BIG problems with the GOP has been their support of illegals simply because they provide cheap labor.

I find that some who call themselves conservatives cannot distinguish between cheapness and value. The cheapest way to do something is not always the best way. Liberals want to find the most expensive way to do things poorly. Some conservatives want to find the cheapest way to do things poorly. People interested in the best value would focus on finding the cheapest way to do something well, but that does not fit in with our throw-away everything society.

Absolutely and also just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. There is more at stake then just dollars.

How true!

When we built our home up in North Dakota, the builder was also the employer for everything except the Plumbing, Electrical, and the HVAC.

When the final stage of finish work started they had an older gentleman, who was semi-retired, who would set up his equipment in the house and spend about four days doing all the trim and other finish work.

I have never seen such beautiful joinery and even though I have spent decades woodworking I still cannot match that man's talents.

When we were then stationed here in the Northern Virginia area we built a much bigger home.

The builder was actually just a scheduler and subcontracted everything out to the lowest bidder. I went in on a Saturday and found two drunk Indians attempting to install the HVAC system and when it came time for the finish work, two Korean men, who spoke no English, brought in a CHEAP cutoff saw and proceeded to hack together one of the worst trim and finish jobs I have ever seen.

I told the builder I was willing to spend the amount necessary to do a quality job and they just said their "people" were the best and they would not let me pursue it any further.
