I’ve noticed a lot of new members on Free Republic, as well.

Unfortunately the FR welcoming committee has much to be desired. I have seen many a post which basically said "STFU NOOB!" (paraphrased). The knee-jerk hostility toward potential trolls can convert a newcomer into a one-time visitor in a heartbeat.

Of course, I think this is my 3rd or 4th account. Early on, I got booted a few times for telling certain people what I really thought of them. Then I lurked for a few years. Now I just know to stay out of certain threads that get my blood boiling.

If those of us who “HELD OUR NOSE” for McLAME had withheld our votes, McLAME and the GOP would have gotten smacked down like MONDALE did in ‘84. Instead, outcome was close enough for the RINO’s to say ... “See, we're on the right Track”!

Any GOP running for office... will have an American Conservative Union score of At Least 90, before I'll even LOOK ... (McLAME was an 82). Otherwise I will withhold my vote and GOP be DAMNED.

New FReepers should be welcomed and encouraged. A lot of the new people are testing the waters and should be helped along.

It is easy to spot a Troll with a little research into their postings.
