SEATTLE — The state Department of Natural Resources has seized more than two dozen logs it says a timber crew featured on the History Channel's reality show 'Ax Men' salvaged illegally.

DNR chief enforcement officer Larry Raedel says officers served a search warrant Friday on S&S Aqua Logging to retrieve timber the company had pulled from the Hoquiam River.

Raedel says the company didn't have a permit to salvage those logs, and DNR officer were tipped off after watching the show.

Calls to the company were not immediately returned. The company is one of several timber crews featured in the second season of "Ax Men."

As I understand it the EPA, DEQ, etc have raised all kinds of hell over logs salvaged from the bottom of the great lakes as well.

Because they aren't sitting at home looking for welfare?

Agreed.

I grew up in the town where these two guys live. Your basic logger, who may be an idiot like any city slicker, will never be proud to take welfare.

These two guys may be a log short of a load, but they are workin' and loggin'

Those old submerged logs are worth a fortune. Probably some kind of special license required to harvest them. Government always has to have its tribute.

I worked in a sawmill for a while and that can be awfully dangerous. As it was explained to me that we were working with “Un Engineered” materials and there is danger inherent in that.

I was working in a safe zone once and ended up with broken ribs because of a log that got bound up and shattered. I was just lucky that it hit me flat instead of pointy end first.

One of the most dangerous places in the world is between a bureaucrat and his need to justify his job.

A bureaucrat will move heaven and earth; he will sacrifice anyone, anything, in order to justify his job.

It has also be said the position between Joe Biden and a TV camera is pretty dangerous.

Can’t have the little guy trying to make something of himself. Why, if he succeeds he might inspire others to do the same. If those people then try and succeed themselves; it could spread like a virus!

The .gov fish redistribution racket would come to a screeching halt.

Harvesting deadwood is a meritorious activity. Good grief, those guys out in Seattle are crazy. As if we didn’t already know that.

As for dangerous, two of the most dangerous professions are logging and fishing or lobstering (at sea).

I did not say that loggers, in general, are idiots. I said that these particular loggers are idiots.

You didn’t even say loggers, you said ‘these people.’

Amazing how quick some are to imagine things you didn’t say and then insult you over it.

And I agree, they’re hamming it up/behaving foolishly for the cameras and that is by definition, idiotic.
