Quoth Jim Treacher a few hours ago, Ive never cared much about Jim Cramer, but its funny how he didnt become a problem for Jon Stewart until he became a problem for Obama. And lo and behold, just across from Tapper at ABC:
He wasnt sure if the president caught Mr. Stewarts bloodletting of the host of Mad Money, but he himself gave the show a thumbs up.
I enjoyed it thoroughly, Gibbs said at his daily briefing
Gibbs today said Stewart asked a lot of tough questions and that he wasnt surprised that CNBC hasnt put the video on its website.
Left unmentioned: The fact that Cramer was an Obama supporter. Oh, and the fact that Stewarts chief criticism of CNBC, that it could have spared the public an economic catastrophe by investigating and exposing Wall Streets reckless hyperleveraging, applies to 99.99% of the Obama-adoring media. Cramers taking the brunt of it here not for his shady admissions about how to game the market thats ancient history but because, like Treacher says, he had the gall to turn on The One publicly. See also Mark Hemingway:
If you want to have Cramer on your show and bully him for sticking his neck out and being spectacularly wrong in hindsight, fine. Perhaps he deserves it, and certainly its not hard to see Cramer as emblematic of Wall Street arrogance. The problem is that Stewarts critique of Jim Cramer, or of the financial press in general, is not new or particularly relevant banks have been collapsing for a year. It only became an issue when Stewart wanted to delegitimize Santelli and Cramers comments on the Obama administration.
Indeed. Heres the interview in three parts (theres profanity, so please observe your official content warning); you can safely skip the first if youre pressed for time. In fact, I encourage you to do so, as the only thing more insufferable than Stewart in his lecturing populist clown nose off mode is the embarrassing, hyperbolic adulation he gets for it from his media fanboys afterwards. Definitely watch the third clip, though, as it finds him sliding effortlessly from a critique of financial media into a critique of investment itself. How silly of Americans to think that they might make money from something other than their own labor.
John Stewart seems to think that he is a tribune of the people.
He is really a high paid clown who mugs well for the camera.
What are his ratings?
Plus Stewart is such a hyprocrite. He told Cramer that gaining wealth is done by hard work, not by gaming the system. I almost laughed when he said that. Maybe Stewart should tell this to his majesty, the redistributor in chief.
Why was Cramer such a sniveling wimp on Stewart’s show? what a drag after all the pre-”fight” hype.
A comedian interviewing a loudmouth trader-on-crack is .... news?
The real scary news here is how ANYONE WHO DARES SAY A CRITICAL THING ABOUT OBAMA IS CALLED OUT.
Is anybody keeping a list of MSM journalists and personalities who take it to be part of their job description that they attack anybody who criticizes Obama in a way that draws some public attention? A sample list:
* Chris Matthews (MSNBC)
* Keith Olbermann (MSNBC)
* Rachel Maddow (MSNBC)
* Jon Stewart (Comedy Central)
* John Harwood (CNB}
____________
Oh hell yes. My list is about 10 times longer.
The crux of the problem here is really (and it’s sad) but I’d say 80% of the sheep who watch Jon Stewart ACTUALLY THINK that he is a REAL NEWSPERSON.
He’s an entertainer, but a great percentage of my generation is so completely out of touch with reality, they consider him to be a reliable source on political news.
Such is the uphill battle those of us who believe in liberty now face.
What's next, the Wall Street Journal starts analyzing Congressional coverage on SNL's "Weekend Update"?
I try to watch his show once in a while because he's the present leader of the Too Cool for School stoner crowd. But, gawsh, he's so effeminate! Smirky, snarly, self-adoring. He and Rahm could do a pas de deux together. Drudge caught one of his silly, prissy gestures on his page today.
So I can't watch for long. It's upsetting how many eat out of his petal-soft hand.
I don’t know his ratings or share, but I think they are rather middling or low.
