H. Rodgin Cohen, chairman of the New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, has withdrawn his name from consideration for deputy Treasury secretary, becoming the fourth pick for a prominent Treasury Department post to pull out in recent weeks.
A prominent attorney who has advised many of the top Wall Street firms, Cohen dropped out after the White House found an issue during his vetting process, two sources familiar with the matter said. The sources declined to identify the reason. Cohen did not respond to messages seeking comment.

Though the Treasury is filling its lower-level positions, the thin ranks on the senior levels are taking a toll on the department's ability to deal with a financial crisis that continues to deepen in scope and complexity, government and industry officials say.

Oh come on! It can’t be THAT hard to find die-hard Keynesians, can it? I mean, it’s been the sole economic theory taught in most American universities for decades now.

How bad could his first name possibly be that he was choose to go by his middle name, Rodgin?

As the Brits asked a few days ago, when they tried to call the Treasury department about the coming G-20 meeting, “Is there anybody home?”

Just imagine - what would the liberals, Democrats, MSM be saying if so many of Bush’s nominees had tax problems or other issues causing them to withdraw?
Can you imagine the uproar if so many Bush nominees hadn’t paid their taxes, for example???????

They’d be calling for his impeachment.....repeatedly.....

They should just pull 20 random strangers off the streets and organize a rousing game of musical chairs. The last one standing gets an appointment in the treasury department. My guess is that the odds are statistically better that they wouldn’t end up with someone who has legal or ethical considerations.

They are now down to the people who are going to VET the bosses in this administration, and decide that after doing their diligence, they just can’t accept the job.

obozo admin does everything a**-hole backwards as usual. Candidate should have been vetted BEFORE making the announcement. Incompetents still at work I see. I’m so ashamed of these people running my country. They’re an embarrassment.

It appears that nobody wants to be associated with this train wreck of an administration.

I need a list! Is anyone keeping track of all these nominees that have declined or been outed as the crooks and law breakers they are?
You'd better not be planning to use that list for any kind of drinking game, like "name an Obama cabinet nominee and take a drink if he/she has resigned or been revealed to be a tax cheat". People can die of alcohol poisoning, you know!
