AT A TIME WHEN the nation has turned to the left, one of the more liberal universities in the nation will be studying right-wing movements. Although the timing is odd, investigation of the right is a welcome academic pursuit.
Thanks to an anonymous $777,000 donation a Center for the Comparative Study of Right-wing Movements will be established at UC Berkeley. Researchers will analyze right-wing groups in the United States and abroad and compare them.
Larry Rosenthal, a sociologist who will oversee the center, is on target in saying that conservative movements have been overlooked in academia, which tends to be populated by left-leaning professors. University studies generally have focused on liberal movements.
. . .
More research about right-wing groups is long overdue. In many national polls over the past few decades, more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal, although they may disagree on what it is to be conservative.
We trust that the center will be comprehensive and objective in its study of right-wing movements and will be able to shed light on their diversity of thought as well as the impact they have had on policies in the United States and abroad.

Of course, the left-wing agenda couldn't stand up to any thoughtful analysis.
But let's say they are able to define conservatism. Will some of these researchers please share their findings with the RNC?

How compassionate, the liberals now want to peer review conservatives into groups. So will they study this by political affiliations, educational level, economic status or religious membership?

My reaction too. A UC Berkeley prof of SOCIOLOGY will head this up, and it’s going be objective? Right.
Yet another high-minded liberal condescension “study” — what Michelle Malkin calls the “Conservatives In The Mist” mindset. “Oh, look at the primitive conservatives! They look so much like us (liberals).”

I trust that they'll be just as "objective" as a John Birch Society group investigating "left wing" groups. I'm sure we could bunch together the violent weather underground and somehow paint everyday dems with the same brush. That's what they'll be doing.

So another Southern Poverty Law Center that (may point out a few extremists, but WILL end up slandering everyone else as “righ-wing”, “radical”, “extremist”, never mind the left has been doing this since before the sixties, and especially in the last eigh years with ACORN, etc..

UC wants to be first-in-line to be a re-education center under this new, Stalinist regime.
I am not affraid, and will continue with my anti-government rhetoric (and organizing).

They should let Professor Gregor run this institution. I took his class and thought he was great -- tenured professor who was VERY conservative (w/no party affiliation).
I took two very interesting classes with him that dealt with a wide array of topics, but specifically Fascism (and connections to Communism / Marxism), issues with China, etc.
