I’m not saying that the high cost is an excuse for not treating. I just think it’s silly to compare the cost of flea treatment (oh sure, they’ll shell out $xx for the dog, but not $XXX,XXX for the kid) to cost of cancer treatment.
I think we, as a society, need to decide whether our taxes are taken to cover everyone’s medical bills or we rely on donations and charity.
I have no problem with a nice mix of both. And the reason I think people are making a point of the flea treatments is because they were using the money as an excuse for not taking the kid to the DOCTOR. A routine doc visit is right around the amount they paid the vet. These bumpkins never even thought out far enough to go behind that.

donations and charity is the way to go. Every charity would strive for excellence in order to be competitive. The government doesn’t have to be smart.
