WASILLA, Alaska -- Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, have broken off their engagement, he said Wednesday, about 2 1/2 months after the couple had a baby.
Johnston, 19, told The Associated Press that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin mutually decided "a while ago" to end their relationship. He declined to elaborate as he stood outside his family's home in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage.
He also said some details of the breakup, rumors of which had been swirling on the Internet, were inaccurate.
Bristol Palin said in a statement that she was devastated about a report on Star magazine's Web site that quoted Levi's sister, Mercede, as saying Bristol "makes it nearly impossible" to visit the teenagers' infant son, Tripp. The baby was born Dec. 27.

If we’re going to play “your kid did X therefore you must secretly support X,” or whatever, then this seems like its a little more important.
After all, it’s not like Bristol voted democratic.
She COULD be a bitch. But maybe I’m a bit old-fashioned when I think, if a guy has a child with a woman, he should man up and get married and take care of both of them. I wrongly assumed that she (or her mother) isn’t the problem in the relationship.
I’d be the first to admit I’m wrong, though. This is the 21st century. Things are different.
So what? Is she running for the Senate. Or some other political office. Leave the girl alone. She has enough problems as a single mom.

I agree with you. I told my sweet 16 year old the same thing recently and I love her dearly and as far as 16 year olds she is very mature. But not mature enough. I don’t think she liked it but she did withhold her opinion.

There are three things causing this flood of anti-Palin stories to be posted here.
1) Its the culture of the people today. They love scandal even if its about one of their own, which is why the stupid reality TV programs have a huge audience, and why these scandal post generate 200 to 300 replies or more. Eating our own for a little entertainment.
2) Could be someone who supported another Republican candidate that is jealous of the attention paid to Palin who shoved their candidate off the radar screen.
3) Trolls, trying to destroy Palin’s and the Republicans chances in 2012.

What a mess!! Things have gotten so depraved in this country.
Personally, I wish people would leave these kids alone. They aren’t in the political system. Don’t destroy them before they even get started. They will make their mistakes as all of us have.

I presume you mean they were engaged before McCain selected Palin as his running mate. Why do you think or how do you know that? Was there a ring? Or a date?
I can remember an announcement of the pregnancy and engagement only AFTER Palin was selected. And I am unable to find any such announcement from BEFORE her selection.
Wait a minute - why does anyone care? I thought politicians’ kids were off-limits! Oh wait a minute, her mother’s a Republican....she’s fair target practice!!!
