Obama's honeymoon bliss fading

President Obama’s honeymoon is beginning to fade.

Members of Congress and old political hands say he needs to show substantial progress reviving the economy soon.

Some Democrats have started to worry that voters don’t and won’t understand the link between economic revival and Obama’s huge agenda, which includes saving the banking industry, ending home foreclosures, reforming healthcare and developing a national energy policy, among much else.

While lawmakers debate controversial proposals contained in the new president’s debut budget — cutting farm subsidies, raising taxes on charitable contributions, etc. — there is a growing sense that time is running out faster than expected.

Democrats from states racked by recession say Obama needs to produce an uptick by August or face unpleasant consequences. Others say that there is more time, but that voters need to see improvement by the middle of next year.

The most optimistic say Obama and Democrats in Congress will face a political backlash unless the economy improves by Election Day 2010.

“We’ve got to see an uptick by August or the Democratic majority is in jeopardy,” said Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), whose state had an 11.6 percent unemployment rate in January.

Stupak doesn’t fault Obama for pursuing healthcare reform, because high medical costs are intertwined with the economic difficulties, he said.

But Obama must move quickly, he added, saying, “By summer there is no more honeymoon. Period.”

i don’t believe his honeymoon will fade, just like it never faded for impeached 42.

Yeah, that's it. People are just too dumb to realize that destroying the future fortune of our children and grandchildren is in our best interests.

Wait a minute, people were stupid enough to vote for him in the first place, so I guess anything is possible...

Then they will be exposed, as bagdad bob was. People living in tent cities waiting in bread lines can only be hidden for so long, just like the tanks rolling in to Bagdad. There are many cracks beginning, and we are only 51 days in. Besides, tent cities don’t get cable, and that is one of the first luxuries that will get axed. The only place left will be the radio for information :)

Colossal failure can’t be covered up. Obama is going to be a colossal failure. After all the hype there’s nowhere to go but down.

I’m not so sure.

At this point, I think if even Democrats are worried, then our chances in 2010 are pretty damned good.

Uptick in Michigan? I will believe that Detroit will start making the Pacer, Gremlin and Rambler again before MI has an uptick.

These socialists can spend $10 more trillion and the economy will still be in a mess.

No ONE with an IQ above 50 has ANY ANY confidence in Obama.

Yup. For those with lesser IQ's it will all be a conspiracy by DA MAN!

Regardless...you'll want a gun handy.

Maybe because most of Obama's agenda has nothing to do with economic revival and everything to do with carbon taxes, government health plans, tax increases and a weak foreign policy.

I believe Obama isn’t Bill Clinton. Clinton was a slippery con man but likable. The kind of guy who could have a beer with and keep your daughters away from. He had a good side to him that came out between his bouts of lib biting. Obama has no such side. He is an unlikable know-it-all, the kind we all grew to hate in school. The MSM will only hold him up so far—like Carter before they start to pick him to pieces with their sharp little beaks of truth. By the end of two years he will be the most hated man in America. Who will turn on him first? The African-American community—mark my words.
