The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Condemnation is much easier than forgiveness and understanding for some.
It does not mean they are not playing from the same rulebook.
God forgives those who acknowledge him and his word. Bristol Palin says His laws are not realistic.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
When precisely did Bristol confess any sin? It’s not at all clear that she, or indeed many posters here, EVER believed that sexual immorality was really a sin.
So now you know Bristol’s heart, as well as the hearts of the rest of us.
May we all live up to your standards.

Try understanding that for a while, if you can take a break from your understanding marathon for Bristol.

If she’s important enough to tell us all that abstinence isn’t realistic, she’s important enough to have her rejections of sin published as well—if she really had any to offer.

You do understand that you have just eviscerated your own argument about the necessity of grace and forgiveness?
The baby has a complete family, the Palins.
Are you indeed Catholic? Do you indeed frequent the confessional?
If so, I might be permitted to express suprise at your unfamiliarity with the concepts of penance involving public repudiation of publicly endorsed sin.
If, indeed you actually were Catholic.
May we all live up to your standards, they are admirable and worthy of pursuit.
She needs to complete her education, get her college degree and career and then look for a husband. She has plenty of time.
No, he does not.
He has a complete set of grandparents and an unmarried mother and father.
Grandparents don’t equal parents.
And I am not Catholic, the I admire their faith as well.
But I have been in a confessional in my place of worship.
The Palins are a loving extended family, who can help raise the child. If a child was being abused and had no suitable extended family, then it would make sense to remove a child, but this is not the case.
By all means let’s compound your insult—implying that I arrogate God’s final judgment to myself—with disingenuous obtuseness that you indeed did so.
If you’re going to snark, at least have the courage to accept responsibility for it.
