Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Isn’t the internet wonderful?

We get to meet and insult people with whom we never would cross paths in life.

I clicked on your homepage again. It is the perfect picture of a happy family.

I have a 13 yr old (mine) 18 and 23 yr old (hubby’s) plus a 1 1/2 yr old steo grandson. Life is great.

How can a person be bitter about about a child that they momm did not marry the fahter? Of course, it is great to have mom and dad....You know that as well as I.

To hear a person say to toss out the baby for adoption because the family unit is not whole is disgusting to me.

Makes me shudder....to give up one of mine? No way!!!!

Society has become permissive. I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing as the non-permissive society wasn’t all that good either. I still think it goes back to parents/family. For the most part, raising kids right or at least with accountability and teaching responsibility, most still do that. For sure, some don’t. That has to change.

Why do some families raise kids right for the most part? Had this convo recently, with another family whose kids turned out right. We think we did something right just not sure exactly what. We were talking about the families in our former neighborhood. In general. Their kids turned out good and our’s are turning out good so far. And we were strict in a sense. None of the other kids turned out right. What was it? We think it’s because we hold our kids, from 2 or so, accountable for their actions. But we also know parents that do that also and the kids, they get to 17 or 18 and do the exact opposite of what they’ve been taught. The parent’s aren’t to blame for that for sure.

My two teens are doing just fine but I got another teen, just 13 and an 11 yr old and it’s more difficult. They see so much more. So we have to be on top of that. The 13 yr old, a different kid than her two sisters. The two older teens laugh and say we gotta watch this one, not only is she drop dead gorgeous but she’s shrewed. Heh, she has two teen sisters so of course it’s more difficult. There’s crap going on in her class that didn’t exist when her two sisters were that age, or it wasn’t as apparent.

I still think it’s all about family and govt help/checks cause a lot of this.

I still think that you are on the wrong internet site.

I think that’s easily explained. I rarely recall those I post with, other than a few exceptions for whatever reason. I don’t recall your name and I assume you don’t recall mine.

Opinion noted.

It’s great how everyone is entitled to an opinion, right?

Thanks for this post. Conservatives are all about family, imo. Most people, regardless of where they stand politically or otherwise, are about family. I hope so at least.

Some see disagreement as a sign of conspiracy and bad faith. It’s just the nature of some folks, I guess.

On this note, I am off to bed.

I am not in the mood to “smell” any more bad opinions.

Plffffff...

And some people can’t express theirs without vulgar insult, but yet life goes on.

Good post. No one on here is the arbiter of conservatism regardless of all the posts to the contrary. And there have been many posts on this thread and others that claim to present what conservativism is and who is a conservative and who isn’t. I’ve been called many names, my conservatism has come into question on this thread and countless others.

As a true consverative, I’ve disagreed with many posts on this thread and the only ones calling me a liberal or not a real conservative have been those that need to see this post. Some would claim I’m not a conservative or not conservative enough. Of course, I know I’m a Conservative. Maybe not the flavor or enough of one to suit the tastes of some.

True conservatives can in fact disagree with this and many other posts.

I don’t know who she is (is she the one that adopted a baby?) but I like that saying.

Even the best lives are messy and a sloppy journey.

Yep the journey, life, is messy, hard, hilarious, and I thank God I was taught a sense of humor.

My dad taught me, us, that. So inappropriate at times but served its purpose, too.

What a beautiful post. Your family is fortunate to have you and I’m sure you’re forutnate to have them.

I don’t usually go for this mushy feel good stuff but you make sense :) You’re raising you kids as I’m raising mine, as I was raised.

It’s good to see. You’re a good one. Your family is blessed to have you and you’re blessed to have them.

Granted, I can get snippy. Usually I wait and hold back but if a poster gets nippy I get snippy right back. Just like real life.

Not sure what the issue is here yet but knowing Shyla, she’s usually pretty good and right on target. I don’t have an issue except with idiot who made some idiotic posts to me and that’s not even a real issue since he or she is an idiot and makes no sense.

Like I said, giving a baby up for adoption is never a first choice and usually the last resort. Family takes care of family and what the hell ever about infertile couples or those who can’t have their own kids. Or those who aren’t married and have a baby. No one has a right to someone else’s kid, ever.

A teen mother and father, not the best case scenario for sure, but no on else has a right to their child and can’t raise it any better than those two parents.
