"Does anyone know WHO asked the socialist question?? Is he still employed by the NYTimes?"

Heck, is he still alive?

Not only was the phone call incoherent, it was ended impolitely with 0mobo hanging up abruptly. 0mobo isn’t that stupid. Just worn out from the first real job he ever had. All he ever had to do before was talk and boy does he love to hear his own voice

Prior to the election, we all know, of course, about his bristling at Joe the Plumber’s “socialist” question -

but did any of you talk to his supporters about his socialist tendencies (or theirs)?

Most of them that I talked to got REALLY defensive about it, but refused to discuss it beyond “that’s absurd”. I found the best question to ask them was
“ok, so we’ll say he’s not a socialist - how would he have to act differently than he currently is in order to qualify as a socialist?”

Your run of the mill lib won’t be able to answer this.

Actually, yes I did. And just like you, they were highly defensive. I even got called an extremist (their word for Conservative). I continue to speak of barry and his socialist ways and the supporters now SAY NOTHING. They are very very quiet.

I spoke with my boss continually throughout the election. He was not voting for barry, but he was saying how he was running from the center. I told the boss he is a commie and only pretending to be central. Once barry was elected, the boss continued to say barry was central, from his first picks. Again, I kept to my guns asserting my commie meme.

Now, the boss and I are talking about how the heck we're going to keep his small business alive. He is still quite optimistic about our country's future. He thinks we just have to "get through this for a while". I am not so optimistic.

“get through this for a while”

Hayek talked about this in “Road to Serfdom”.

Since the collectivists promise a final, tradeoff free, perfect solution in the end, they and their supporters always refer to the tyrrany and hardship that happens as a result of their policies as “a temporary situation” on the road to perfection.

The only way I am optimistic is that perhaps putting this commie in power, and the policies that he’ll try to implement, will lead to more and more people saying “go pound sand, I’m NOT complying.”

You are more optimistic than I. I just hope enough of us stand up. In my office of 12, I am the only one “preparing” for the worse. They think I'm a crazy person when I try to encourage them to at least stock up on food supplies to feed them and their family.

I'm not saying our country will be thrown into the next revolution (although, it is quite possible), but instead what happens when food prices go through the roof? Heck, when the price of everything skyrockets and rendering it unattainable?
