In 2008, the state executed only two convicted killers from Tarrant County. But if the execution of James Edward Martinez is carried out Tuesday night as planned, he would be the fourth inmate from Tarrant County to receive lethal injection this year. A fifth is scheduled in June.
Tarrant County prosecutors say the spate of executions this year is fitting because the punishment provides the final justice that residents there demand.
"I think the public understands the magnitude of what can happen," said prosecutor Tiffany Burks, who sent Erick Davila to death row last month. "I think that the law allows for the death penalty under certain circumstances. The unilateral decision should be made by the citizens of Tarrant County as it is. They should be able to hear the facts, so to that end, as long as juries are consistent and fair about their decision-making, then justice is being served."
Martinez, 34, of Fort Worth, was convicted for the ambush-style slaying of his ex-girlfriend, Sandra Walton, and her friend Michael Humphreys on Sept. 21, 2000. For Humphreys' father, Brad Humphreys, Tuesday will be the second time he's witnessed the execution of someone who killed a close family member.
In 2001, he watched Jeffery Tucker die for the 1988 shooting death of his father, Wilton Humphreys.
"It's not rewarding or a joy to go watch a man die," Brad Humphreys said Monday at his Arlington home. "When one [slaying] happens, you think the worst can't happen again. But when your own child is killed ... your child is not supposed to die before you."
Humphreys said that Martinez and other killers should understand it's a fate they brought on themselves.

Mmmm.... Nine years and accelerating...
While most other states are having to put in geriatric care for their Death Row inhabitants, Texas’ express lane to Hell for these murderers is speeding up!
Who wants to pay for the care of these murderers? I am sure you don’t, I didn’t when I lived in Texas. From conviction to execution should be accelerated even more. IMHO. :)
Wow, the poor man had this happen to his family twice!
Justice in Texas is served well. And the Judicial system here in Tarrant County works just fine!
Condemned killer's mom was also convicted of murder

The first execution was also scheduled for Sept 11, 2001 and had to be rescheduled.
Did you see the link above where killer’s mama is a killer too of two people—she got out of hers though. Weird stuff.
Video of crying killer’s killer mama at the link you posted. She says too many innocent people have already been put to death and the prosecution says, “Oh well”.
Talk about the statistically impossible (using very bad statistical analysis of course).
It is just really bizarre! Video of the victim’s father at your link too.
Good find. Mama did the same kind of killing, ex and ex’s opposite sex friend.
