So 25% don’t know their Constitution as well as they apparently imagine. Must all work for the MSM...

As Rush says, the people who identify themselves as moderate are for the most part conservative. Give them a strong conservative candidate like Reagan and they will vote overwhelmingly for him/her.

Here is a good test to give to a liberal soccer mom.

1. Why do armored truck guards carry guns? To guard the MONEY, of course.

2. Is your child worth less than a truckload of money?

There was a huge argument over the Bill of Rights that it should even be included because the framers of the Constitution thought that it was so obvious that the rights in the BOR existed, that it was unnecessary to even enumerate them. If that group would have prevailed, we would have ceased being a free country 150 years ago.

25%. That is my estimate of really foolish, un-informed, and dangerous people.

Indeed, THAT is a good test.

>You can’t tell me not to threaten to kill the president, that’s unconstitutional!

Actually that one IS. Back in the day, Presidents like Andrew Jackson got death-threat letters!

But now we live in a more “tolerant” time, a more “free” and “democratic” civilization. [/sarc] It would be nice to repeal the laws against dueling... simply because then we could tell people “Put your money where your mouth is and meet me on the field of honor or shut the hell up!”

See? Pro-Second-Amendment support includes most Democrats and nearly all working class Democrats. Rich social lefties are afraid that we’ll storm their neighborhoods and steal their girls (girls gone wild anyway).

The thing that has always baffled me is there is any question as to what the original intent of the writers of the Constitution was. Ever bit of it was wrangled out in the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist Papers.

...remember the Million Mom March against Second Amendment rights? Manhating divorcers really hate your constitutional rights and see them as props for the "patriachy."

Don’t worry.
Folks like me have enough to make up for those %25 who are misguided and do not have a weapon.

Locked and loaded.

“Just 14% say gun ownership is not a constitutional right. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.”

And these 25% vote. Scary.

Just 75%?

Of course, and the fraction be lower still if you asked about specific "infringements", such as bans on "assault weapons", on machine guns, and even restrictions on keeping and bearing ordinary handguns, and even "sniper rifles", "cop killer bullets" and the rest of the litany of made up or misapplied terms.

It’s a loaded question. I know many liberals who hunt a-plenty. They believe in guns as sporting goods only. Some even think that fully legal semi-autos like the AR-15 should be illegal. Just because they say we should be able to own them, doesn’t mean they truly believe in the heart & soul of the 2nd.

No, they provide the public justification or excuse for implementing the gun banner agenda. But there are other, less spoken of, things driving the agenda.

I wonder what the percentages would be if the question used hand grenades instead of guns.

The weird part is comparing the 2nd amendment to the 1st amendment. A LOT fewer Americans fully support the 1st amendment.

Even weirder, they are not supportive of the real meat of the 1st amendment, political speech, as much as the “fringe” of the amendment, like porn, “hate speech”, incitement, and the sharing of information like how to build bombs. Almost a majority have no problem with restricting political speech.

Go beyond that, to the other Bill of Rights amendments, and the ignorance is almost complete.

We should face the fact that in every single grade of school through high school, students should be familiarized, over and over again, with the Bill of Rights.

"Why? Because exit polls show there's a large chunk of the electorate that is moderate, independent-minded and turned off by partisanship. In exit polls, 47 percent of voters described their views as moderate, 21 percent liberal and 32 percent conservative. And 61 percent of the moderates voted Democratic this year. On party identification, 26 percent said they're Independent, which is in line with recent elections. But this year, Independents went Democratic by a 57-39 margin. That's what gave the day to Democrats. In the 2002 midterm, by contrast, Independents went Republican in a 48-45 split.
I can draw two conclusions. We've been losing moderates and independents. The rats are finally gun shy.
What it means is, not all of the 61 per cent are really moderates, but consider themselves moderate because, by and large, they support a lot of the basic positions of the Democrats. Republicans have successfully been pigeonholed as "right-wing" and "radical" and "outside the mainstream"; the socialists and leftists are considered worth talking to and discussing things with, instead of picturing the mass-murderers Joseph Stalin, Mao, and Adolf Hitler. Thanks neverdem.
