A humanitarian convoy led by maverick MP George Galloway carrying medical supplies for Gaza has come under attack in Egypt
The convoy, carrying aid worth £1 million, was pelted with stones and vandalised after it stopped in El-Arish, a small town around 28 miles from the Rafah border crossing with Gaza.
"It's an absolute disgrace,'' convoy organiser Yvonne Ridley told AFP. "The power was cut. Under cover of darkness members of our convoy were attacked with stones.
"Vandals also wrote dirty words and anti-Hamas slogans,'' she said. "Several people in the convoy were injured in the attack."

"George Galloway is still in negotiations," said Ms Ridley. "What we have agreed to do is to separate the medical aid from the non-medical aid. The non-medical will go into Gaza via the Egyptian Red Crescent."
The convoy is expected to continue to Gaza today.
In early February, it was alleged that three Islamist terror suspects arrested in northwest England had planned to leave the country under cover of Mr Galloway's convoy. Intelligence sources said that the men were planning a terrorist operation abroad.

The nerve of people expressing their disapproval of a terrorist organization that is doing Allah's work! (attempting to destroy Israel).
Too bad Galloway didn't get hit directly in the noggin -- might've knocked some sense into him. ...but most likely not.
As did 5 of the 9/11 hijackers.
I didn’t realize greater percentage of votes does not get one elected in the UK - by what standard does it take there to be elected?
As for Galloway being a Scott...being from Scottish blood myself (half Scott to be accurate) Galloway is an embarrassment to all Scottsmen or should be.
The Egyptians want no part of Gaza while it is infested with the terrorist Mafia. Gaza used to be beautiful ferttile farms and orange groves. Care to guess what it is now?
We did’nt try, we did execute him.
To be elected in UK the party with the most seats (constituencies ) wins. Its usually a three cornered fight, in most constituencies, sometimes more. So there are 646 constituencies in Britain and whichever party wins a clear majority over all other parties wins.
Trouble is some constituencies are very much more3 populated than others. So if someone wins with a majority of lesser populated constituencies you have a majority of people governed by a party that attained a lot less actual votes.
So just because a government represents the country it does not necessarily represent the majority of the British.
YES IT SUCKS and we need shot of it but there in lies the problem.
It may be 8:45 in California - but apparently it’s 4:20 in Egypt!
Personally, I think galloway deserved much more than a stoning, and this quote alone proves it.
Egypt’s leader recognized Israel’s right to exist, but that doesn’t mean the teeming masses agree. They just don’t want a million angry Palis flooding across the border and setting up jihad camp in Egypt. It would be a bullet magnet and an eyesore and a drain on resources.
In Arab countries, the failed societies always get a heavy dose of anti-Israel medication. It’s the automatic offset for them not to deal with their failed nation states.
What Arabs will say to foreigners and each other are not the same.
The Islamic Brotherhood is not merely a faction. It has a large organization and was responsible for leading the assassination of Anwar Sadat, no small matter.
You’re right. I know some missionaries who spent time in Egypt. Most are curious about westerners and not particularly threatening. There is a small segment of the population who are evil extremists, but the government really cracks down on them. The government gives protection to westerners visiting more remote areas, if they think it’s needed. The Christian population there is 10%. That’s not to say Christians aren’t treated badly, but not as badly as most other Islamic countries.
For those of you interested in Bible prophecy, these verses could be of interest to you:
24. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the middle of the land 25. Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance. Isaiah 19:24-25
(Assyria is modern day Iraq.) Egypt has been supportive of Israel compared to most Islamic countries. Years ago, I could have never foreseen Iraq being Israel’s ally, but it’s possible the war in Iraq may well have paved the way for a government that will be more supportive of Israel. There is a lot I can’t claim to know or understand, but I find this passage interesting.
“Is it because they don’t want the Palestinians to relocate to Egypt? “
They don’t want a radicalized Pallie population allowed in their borders, especially those funded by Iran. In Gaza, Hamas is running it and acts as an arm of Iran.
Egypt doesn’t want that to succeed inside or outside of Gaza.
And as for being a half scott, well there is no such animal, you can take the man out of Scotland but ye canna tak the scot outa the man.
And I bear the name of a King and a tartan ta match.
Outsourcing?
Unfortunately, Egypt doesn't want it and made this abunduntantly clear at the Camp David Accords of 1978. I doubt that they have changed their mind since.
Yes. I would have lobbed a stone myself if I were there.
In America if you are white and speak English you can't speak the truth or you get prosecuted in the media or the courts depending on what truth you are speaking.
We have the same problems with the press, current leadership and voting.
Thanks, I was just about to ask if it was the same. So what do the Brits do with the 3 homegrown terrorists? They let 'em go. Unfreaking believable.
The medical supplies were packages of C4 explosive.
The non-medical supplies were packages of dynamite.
