I saw Joe the Plumber speak yesterday and he was great! Common sense.
Again, what’s the difference between doing this and Bush’s policy of cutting deals with the Sunni insurgents and even putting them on the U.S. payroll!

Think about the torture of having to deal with the likes of a Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, McCain, etc. where, besides the obvious ignorance of the parties, the objectives are to avoid the solution, kick it down the road and survive the next Election by pandering to the less savory segments of Society. No thanks!
Besides, after the results of the last Election, I'm not too keen on this Democracy thingy. BTW, what did I ever do to you to evoke such a wish for my future? :-)

And then announces he wants to locate moderate Talibans and negotiate with them.
I have a couple of observations regarding this.
1. Obviously he didn’t have his security blanket (the teleprompter) when he said this. I can’t believe that his handlers would have let him say such disastrous, defeatist statements.
2. If we are indeed losing right now, we’re not losing against the “moderate” Taliban, but against the hard core, filled-with-conviction, take-no-prisoners Taliban, so he’s proposing negotiating with the wrong people.
3. Even if he eventually figures out who he should be negotiating with, what he said puts us in the weakest possible negotiating position I can think of, short of unconditional surrender. The Islamists worldwide must be rubbing their hands and licking their chops at the sight of this poor innocent lamb we put in the white house.
The guy’s incompetence and inexperience is going to get a bunch of us killed. We are so f’ing screwed!!
Can a president be impeached for incompetence? I don’t think we can affort to wait until 2012.
Same old denigration of our military heroes.
Ignore the success and hope for failure until he can declare victory his own.

You mean besides the fact that the Sunni’s that crossed over to help win victory in Iraq were not aligned behind Al Qaeda — Other than that not much.
Why not? Neville Chamberlain reached out to moderate Nazi’s and that worked out ok, didn’t it?
Didn’t we try negotiation prior to invading Afghanistan?
We did, it didn’t work.
And it won’t work now.
