(CNN) -- Five people, including a church pastor, were shot inside the First Baptist Church of Maryville, Illinois, a police dispatcher told CNN on Sunday.
The shooting occurred during a church service, the dispatcher said. The suspect was stabbed by parishioners who wrestled him to the ground.

One of the largest churches in the Phoenix metro area recently held a CCW class AT the church. There were more than 120 people in attendance. At first I thought they held the class because of interest and demand, but I wonder now if it might also be a way to help insure something like this doesn’t take place there.
I have been hearing about more and more Church’s having security.
It doesn’t say whether anyone was arrested or whether the perp was carried out dead.
Honestly we have a low crime rate in Maine but a lot of people carry leatherman tools.

We go to a large church with multiple services, but they make sure there are people in each service with CCW permits that do carry...some folks are on staff, some just part of the volunteer security detail.
I thought that Illinois gun laws prevented this from happening?

I can prove, yet again, that liberal "feelings" usually have good intentions, but ALWAYS result in someone being hurt or killed.
We need to ban liberals from church, NOT GUNS.
Illinois gun laws keep people from protecting themselves and as in this case, using knives in a gun fight.
