(Blakely, Ga.) - ......Blakely is America's peanut capital, the seat of the biggest peanut-growing county in the United States and "peanut proud," as the motto goes. It's also home to the now-infamous Peanut Corp. of America plant that allegedly sold salmonella-laced products and launched a deadly food-safety scandal.
Cafe owner Fred Large say it's unfair that a rogue corporate operator who bought much of his peanut stock from China and Argentina should have "drug this town through the mud."
......Indeed, PCA used few Georgia peanuts. In fact, one lab worker testified to Congress that the original contamination may have come from organic peanuts shipped in from China. The other plants here, such as Birdsong and Golden Peanut, are known as quality operators, shipping local product to some of the biggest brand names on grocery store shelves.
The salmonella case is likely to lead to potentially dramatic changes at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is charged with ensuring America's food safety.

For all the reporting that’s been done on the tainted peanut products, I don’t think I’ve heard one mention of the source in the MSM.
Al Gore,Obama, and the rest of the evil clowns want to shut down American factories ,mines, power plants, automobiles, and farms because of “climate change”,while forcing us to buy Communist China’s crap. They are intent on destroying America.
More proof that we need to support American products and businesses. I’m fed up with “made in China”. Everything we get from them is defective, infected or unsafe in some way.
If you had not posted that link, I would never have heard of the China source link, either. Thanks.
Boo Hiss to China and all of that, but why haven’t the inspectors been strung up? This plant has been cited a few times for being gross, but not closed. Where were our ‘protectors’ in this case?
Jimminy Karter was a peanut farmer.
“Where were our ‘protectors’ in this case?”
Votin’ “present”, Coffee.
Thats because it’s source of origin is irrelevant. The “one lab worker’s” congressional testimonial is likely a paid shill to deflect blame from PCA. You see the problem is that peanuts sourced from Chinese and American farms as well are raw. They are roasted as part of the process to make peanut butter. Roasting kills bacteria, hence the salmonella contamination had to have happened sometime after they entered PCA’s production facilities. It’s like a chef who cant cook blaming crappy ingredients for him burning his food.
This is the first I’ve heard that the peanuts were Chinese...not that I’m surprised to find that out. Fracking Chinese weren’t satisfied with just killing our pets, so they’ve added milk and milk products and now peanuts to the their food as a weapon campaign.
“I don’t think I’ve heard one mention of the source in the MSM”
Me either, and I live in Georgia. Of course, 0 and Hillary wouldn’t want to offend China in any way that might make it look like China could have been responsible for yet another food contamination.
But with those peanuts you can sprinkle butter-flavored salt on them and eat them over and over as Recession Popcorn!
Maybe the town should get together and have the POS down for a good old fashion necktie party.

That is part of the problem if in fact the Plant knew they had salmonella within their facilities and didn’t proceed to totally decontaminate the facility. The original contamination could have come from peanuts from overseas with the contamination lasting for years but that doesn’t excuse the plant from not cleaning up their facility. Even cooked foods can be contaminated if they come in contact with the bacteria after they have been cooked to the proper temperature.
As I suspected when the story broke, that Chinese peanuts had some involvement somewhere.
I wonder where that thought would have evr come from given the safe, quality line of RED chinese imports streaming into America.
Just seems to me that this is another case of a good crisis not going to waste. Nobody between the FDA and the company were doing their jobs, The media doesn’t report the whole story, and the American peanut industry takes a beating. Kinda reminds me of the tainted tomatoes and peppers from a year back.
One day the American people will figure out what’s going on and somebody will hang.
