Great news: Obama fumbled Brown visit because he’s in over his head (The Messiah)
Hot Air ^ | March 7, 2009 | Ed Morrissey

After insulting Gordon Brown during the British prime minister’s visit this week by ignoring protocol and cheaping out on the traditional gift exchange, the UK media has erupted in outrage.

The Obama White House has now started to recognize the firestorm the new President created with our closest ally, and wants to assure the Brits that he meant no disrespect. Instead, Obama apparently wants to assure them that he’s simply in over his head and floundering (via Radio Equalizer):

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister. …

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”. …

The American source said: “Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

“That was the gamble these guys made at the front end of this presidency and I think they’re finding it a hard thing to do everything.”

I’m not sure which is worse. At least if he meant to snub Brown, it would suggest a certain competence at this brand of diplomacy. Instead, we’re told that the Obama White House and their staff are just a bunch of incompetents who got in over their heads. Which is, of course, the point we made continuously over the last two years.

I bet Obama and his circle want to micro-manage Everything. And the protocol office ended up not really being involved in the Brown visit.

Sarah would have the job well in hand. She is smarter and wiser than all those jerks, McCain, Biden, et al put together.

The acting Chief of Protocol is Gladys Boluda, who took on the position at the end of Nancy Brinker's term on January 20, 2009. A new Chief of Protocol has yet to be appointed.

The Prime Mentalist arrived at the White House yesterday and was welcomed by Gladys Boluda, who as the US State Department's Chief of Protocol, is too polite to point out to Gordon that he was about to meet the most powerful man on the planet with his trousers tucked into his sock.

Now that we’re mentioning Palin, I would suggest that people remember that it was Romney’s people who have been working very diligently at trashing Palin. I’ll never vote for Romney under any circumstances, and this just adds another reason...

LOL..., that “looking in the mirror” reminded me of a friend who could never pass a mirror without looking at himself.... It never failed, if he passed a mirror, he would be staring intently at it... :-)

Oh sh*t, Now the papers are going to be flooded with phoney photo-op’s of the empty suit with his shirt off and the ever present basketball at his side to be followed by him boarding a plane or another MUCH DESERVED VACATION - his fourth since being elected America’s figurehead POTUS.

Which might be believable if the President really had to do any more than approve things like these gifts. It's not like he and Michelle have to run out the Walmart themselves and buy things. Clearly, they think we are a bunch of stupid rubes.

$10,000.00 dresses and most of them don’t even have sleeves. Imagine that. Hairy armpits anyone?

These aren't real private sector jobs, in which consumers get to choose and vote with their dollars. Academia is as much a fantasy world as government, with a captive audience often financed by govt. "loans." His community organizing was financed by Acorn, wasn't it? Anyway, it was nothing but teaching the urban masses to agitate for more handouts.

Bottom line: 0bama has never had a real job.

He apparently hasn’t found a Director of Protocol that has not paid their taxes

He insinuated that McCain was senile, IIRC. Then there were several times during the campaign when he sneakily gave people the finger. These insults are no accident, nor are they caused by fatigue.

Who's the new Chief of Protocol - Chris Brown?

Wow. Choco-Carter really did himself in. This idiot is going to go down as one of the stupidest leaders EVER in world history.

Impeachment of this fool looks inevitable.

I agree. Also, we know Obama and his ilk despise our country, so I think he is approaching the POTUS “job” as something that is not very important, and not something to hold in high regard. In other words, no big deal about protocol, etc. One small example: the shirt sleeves in the Oval Office.

That’s what you get in this day and age of of “stardom”. You don’t get someone who is qualified for the job...you get a guy or gal who looks good on TV and in 30 second sound bytes with speeches written by someone else. The only thing is, once the lights are turned off and this person has to do something...they can’t.

America, you got what you wanted...now you have to pay the price.

Impeachment? But that can’t happen either because of the hard core socialist Congress. :(

One bright spot. I do agree with a previous poster. At least Biden would not be as dangerous. He does not pretend to be all-knowing and does not want to remake the country into his own image.

I honestly don’t think Obama has wanted to perform the functions of any of the offices he has held. He just likes running, and adopting the trappings of those offices. Makes him feel good.

You nailed it right there. During the campaign I kept remarking on how lazy he seemed to be. It's his pattern - everything in his life has come easy to him by luck or having indulgent older mentors, he's never had to really work to achieve anything, and in every position he's had he's just gone through the motions while looking good. That streak just ended. Lucky us.

It’s not his race. He’s an Ivy League drug-addicted homo-Marxist that’s created the MSM love affair. He reminds them of the college pal that hooked them up with dope and sluts during their college days. He’s harmless in their mind!

Why Obama would be up Chris Matthew’s leg, I don’t want to know, but I have a few a guesses what they might be doing in a drug-induced state (ask Larry Sinclair)
