She has established herself as the First Lady of fashion and has graced the cover of Vogue.
But long before arriving at the White House Michelle Obama was already putting on the style.
In a shimmering low-cut silk dress slashed to the thigh, the then 18-year-old Michelle Robinson posed with her first boyfriend at the High School Prom.
High school sweethearts: First Lady Michelle Obama with David
Upchurch before the 1984 Whitney M Young High School prom in
Chicago, Illinois
More than a quarter of a century since that night, David Upchurch still has fond memories of escorting Michelle to the dance at the Whitney M Young High School in Chicago, which they both attended....
Her revealing dress choice...was perhapsan indication that she would always stand out.
Over 25 years since that night Upchurch still has fond memories of escorting Michelle to the dance....
Darling of the dance floor: Barack Obama takes Michelle, now his
wife of 17 years, for a spin at one of the 10 balls they
visited on inauguration night
He's still got the moustache:
David Upchurch outside his
home in Colorado Springs.
'Barack Obama's a lucky man,' he said
David said:...junior year, we began dating and continued to date for a year-and-a-half.'

Perfect. I had to watch the entire clip. Burn baby burn!
I think you’re right, Cicero. And discretion. Can we arrange a swap and get him in the White House and sneak Obama out when no one’s looking? He would surely be a better president, and at least as a “sales rep” he might have some comprehension of economics.
I’ll go along with this peculiar “be nice” attitude that has recently infested FR when it comes to Michelle’s fashion sense. That prom dress is much more attractive than the white fluffy inaugural gown. There, does that count as a compliment?
Thank you for forcing me to bring back painful memories.
Guess you were wrong. Won't blame you for leaving.
Actually here family was quite well off, upper middle class. She talks as if she was poor, but she grew up with a father who made the equivalent of $250K in todays wages given inflation.
BTW LOL~ on the visual of your dress... I sort of feel that way about my wedding dress, wish I had a do-over on that... my prom dress was pretty and pink, strapless with full skirt.. very much the rage of the time ...
She had a slit up to her panties. No wonder the guy remembered her :)
Maybe you think it’s lovely but I know I would never dress that way and MY parents would have barred the door to keep me in if I tried to go out like that.
well...WHOOPIE for you!
Ok,You have me laughing.
