The “army” provided “civilians” with tanks at Mt. Carmel and most on here cheered them on. We make look back, if we’re lucky, and see Timothy McVeigh as the first casualty of the next revolution.

As for those who don’t think American soldiers and local police will fire upon citizens, it already happened in the late 1700’s and again in 1861.

The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment. ~Robert M. Hutchins, Great Books, 1954

Bush expanded presidential power to, among other things, allow government agents to secretly open the private mail of American citizens; authorize government agents to secretly, and illegally, listen in on the phone calls of American citizens and read our e-mails

Any citizen at any time for any reason? Or is Whitehead overstating the case here?

We already have a federal police force comprised of Secret Service agents who are authorized to "carry firearms; make arrests without a warrant for any offense against the United States committed in their presence."

This phrase is on the agent's credentials which show the scope of his authority. It would be a little tough to catch bad guys if a federal agent witnesses a crime and had to run off to the judge to get a warrant.

I don't remember too much complaining when a Secret Service agent, off duty, took on some gang bangers at the Annapolis Mall. He didn't have a warrant, didn't need one; and it wasn't a federal crime, most states allow feds to act when witness to a felony.

None of this was the doing of G.W. Bush. They were authorities that have been granted to feds for years.

The source article for that thread was horrifically incorrect. The bid went to businesses smaller than a $6 million criteria. The actual bid was for 55 sets of riot gear granted for $20K. 55 sets of riot gear going to Leavenworth, a U.S. military’s prison is not a deep dark conspiracy to rob you of your constitutional rights. It is a deep dark conspiracy for the staff to protect themselves from felony level prisoners that want to stick guards with a shank.

Oath bound folks like me have to get in a group of trusted folks and stand by.
Martial law will set it all off and it’s too late to see whos who then.

Speaking of FEMA camps, Glenn Beck is doing everything he can to either debunk or prove that they are real and a threat. All he has been able to find is that there are military bases with setup for camps per se, but nothing like what is rumored (prison, concentration, etc).

He even talked to Ron Paul Monday about it, and Ron said he didn’t know of anything going on with them either, however he did mention with FEMA they have the ability to set up shop rather quickly, so if it came to it, they could do something along those lines (and unexpectedly) rather quickly.

In today’s government, you have to ask?

I was asking about Bush's government, not O's, since that was the context of the original remark. Did the Bush admin exercise police state powers indiscriminately, or were his rules narrowly focused on citizens actually suspected of collusion with terrorists?

Of course, no matter how judiciously Bush exercised said powers, it opened up a Pandora's Box of precedents for the current regime.

George W. Bush stepped outside the boundaries of the Constitution and assembled an amazing toolbox of powers

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!! I thought it strange that during the evil Bush administration I had to have 3 crowns on my teeth even though I brushed and flossed every day..........those messages in my head are obviously thought transmissions due to the transponder receptors which were incapsulated in the crowns.

Unfortunately I can't afford to have those crowns replaced so I am forced to have to deal with this madness..............Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
